Hi Elly.  With the way this Semi-final has just taken a turn with Del potro levelling things up Murray could start next season outside the top 4 since August 2008.
Hey Geo.  I know.  It's not good.  He seems to be moving back the way.  I don't know what to make of it all, tbh.  He just seems to have ground to a halt.

Ever since the Benneteau QF in Cincinnati he has been strugling to see out matches in straight sets contrast that to between July last year to July this year.

Just don't know what to think, tbh.  He's defs lost a lot of drive.  Is he happy with his career?.... maybe.  Maybe he's not looking for much more.  Maybe what he's achieved is enough....  Dunno.....

^ The one thing I refuse to believe is that he's not good enough.  He's way good enough.

He has stated that his main goal now is to win one of the big 4.

I'm suspecting that if he doesn't do it in 2010, then it's not going to happen.

Hopefully he can win the AO and kick on from there.

But it will be from being seeded 5th.

Yup, fifth seed at the AO now. Little prospect of regaining #4 until the clay court season at least, and you'd expect him to drop points at Miami or Indian Wells.

Andy ranked 5th on the 11th of January, if not on Monday.

Interestingly, number 6 and 7 aren't far behind either. Daveydenko is going to pick up a load of points this week (1000 odd at least) and didn't play at the AO, Indian Wells or Miami so has plenty to gain there. The slide could well continue... Frown

Roddick has only got 4410 and is defending a Semi-Final from the AO, so Murray should stay ahead of him for quite a bit of next year.

So, what do we think now that the draw has been made?

I think he'll make it to the QF with Nadal, a match that is truly mouthwatering in prospect. Little tongue man

I stand by what I said beforehand - QF or SF.

Presuming he gets to the quarters - and it will be a bit of a disaster if he doesn't - then the seeding makes little difference.   At that point he'll meet any of the top 8 players all of whom are tough to beat.  The days of 2 or possibly 3 winners of a tournament standing out are gone.    Any of 10/12 players could win.   I wonder how pleased Fed is that Andy is not in his half - and I bet Rafa and Delpo are not exactly delighted that Andy may block their way to the final.

I think that if he doesn't go out in one of the early rounds, then he will do ok and go quite deep into the tournament, kind of all or nothing...

I feel he could get to the quarters or semis, beyibd that is in the lap of the gods. They've all been training, making improvements, he's not the only one - it's a melting pot and I don not want to predict an outcome - just hope he does well.
