AO 2012 QF: Murray vs Nishikori

Quote

Andy meets up with Kei Nishikori, a surprise winner of the match vs Tsonga.

Andy met Nishikori in Shanghai, winning that one in straight sets.

By the sounds of it, Nishikori has come on leaps and bounds since then but hopefully Andy will continue to have the measure of the Japanese tennis player.

H2H and poll to follow.

Nishikori was physically spent at the end of the Tsonga match. When he got a break up in the 5th he was just conserving energy on the Tsonga serve so he could hold his own. He's playing Mixed Doubles tomorrow as well. But he did play very, very well from the 2nd set when I turned on.

Thanks for the head up WannabeScot.

Here's some highlights of their last meeting - not sure of the quality, as it's taking an age to load on my computer lol

I really ought to include the link blush

Lets just hope that Murray is not missing a 'Test' of sorts

he needs to be on the ball when he faces Djokovic

They looked dead on their feet at the end.

The looming doubles match wont help his score card against Andy though. Cant have much gas left in his tank!

Luck of the draw or what? Very Happy

Unbelievable stuff, an exhausted Nishikori in the quarter-finals. Then again, would like to see him severely tested before meeting Djokovic in the semi-finals.

Think Kei will put up a fight for two sets at least. Adrenalin will be pumping.
Andy should get some good practise.

I like Nishikori, and wanted him to beat Tsonga, but wont want him to do well in his next match.   Rolling Eyes     I hope Andy gets a night match, I think it's about time.

Got one in R3. Murray v Nishikori isn't quite the same draw as Murray v Tsonga either, so I would expect him to be in the day session again.

Nadal got his first RLA night match when Del Potro/Federer is the bigger draw, and Murray got his first match on RLA when he had the least interesting mens match today, so he might.

Didnt Andy beat him quite comfortably in one of the Asia tournaments?

I expected Kukushkin would take a set off AndyM as its 1st time on RLA this tourny 4 AndyM, plzd that AndyM has played RLA as he now has a feel 4 it. Why did Kukushkin have 2 retire, know it was due to injury but what happened? Hope AndyM has an evening slot against Nishikori and dare I say Id rather see AndyM facing him than Tsonga.
