Question: Round 4 anyone?  We'll be there but who will join us?
Andy continues to swipe the French aside and does it in 3. - 23 (69.7%)
A bit of resistance from the Frenchman but no match for Andy, he does it in 4. - 8 (24.2%)
Andy's been snacking on the French pastries a tad but takes it through in 5. - 0 (0%)
Je ne sais pas and neither does Andy, Michael takes it in 3. - 0 (0%)

Llodra will be knackered after playing 7 sets today (5 in singles and 2 in doubles) so this will be a nice 3 setters for Andy. It will be good for Andy to have a target to aim for which is his strength.

That's a good point, but he  does have good stamina.
He came to Melbourne from the WTC in Adelaine were he played for 3 days. That tournament is more for fun than anything, but he has played a lot the last weeks, so he could tire. Or is he in good nick.?

To play well at S&V, Llodra needs all his energy to get to the net quickly, be able to have fast reflexes for volleys, running back for overhead smashes or retrieve the ball after a deep lob.

Even with his energy slightly below max, he will become even more of an easy target for Andy. Andy can hit a fast dipping shot left, right, high lob or even straight at the body (a la Lendl). If he stays back, Andy consistency will overwhelm him. If he comes in, he will get passed.

Llodra will be in deep doodoo comes Saturday Smile

Forgot to pick up on the fact that Llodra is a lefty and Andy feels very comfortable playing lefties Very Happy

If things go as planned , this will be great for Andy . As you guys have said , Andy has so much variety , dont think Llodra will stand a chance . He will be like a yoyo on Andys string .

I've voted for Andy in 4, erring on the side of caution, but expect 3 straight.
Ol´Llodra will put up a fight though, since his AO (GS) days are surely numbered at 32 yrs!

Can't understand why Andy is not getting on the Rod Laver, even though he is well used to Hisense, but when he progresses he will be on the R.Laver playing against a player who has been playing there. Doesn't seem fair to me. :confused:At least he's got a night match.

Thanks for the gold star Bev but I fear it didn't take too much clairvoyance! I guess, as has been said, it might suit Andy for now if conditions are easier there, though they were saying on the radio that it's a horrible atmosphere and detached from the main tournament.  BUT assuming Andy gets through ok, they really must start putting him on RLA soon as a potential semi-finalist as Nole has been playing there all along and will be well used to the conditions by then.  Otherwise it will start to look like discrimination against Andy.
But from a selfish point of view it means can watch in comfort as will be 8am our time.  Nice way to spend Saturday morning eh?

Hisense is away from the main courts but is near practice courts/lower court numbers and you have to walk past all the sponsors tents/displays to get to it.  It can get cool in the shade there (can understand why Lendl had towels wrapped around him) and boiling hot in the sun.

Andy got his 1st match on RLA this time last year.  We had Hisense tickets but it was women playing first off and I went for a wander around and got to see Jamie playing doubles.

I'm sure that Andy doesn't mind where he's playing, so long as he wins.  Must have been on the Friday last year that I got to see Djokovic on Hisense.  Short lived match as Troiki retired injured.
