Wow!  Makarova's shot!

This is the chance of a lifetime.  She better not blow this.

Those folks at RLA are getting their money's worth now.

Remember that funny line from Val Kilmer's Elvis Presley-spy movie spoof "Top Secret!"  (1984) from the talented makers of "Airplane!" (1980).

The politically incorrect line which serves as a password is "In women's tennis, I always root against the heterosexual."  Dont like the drama Queens either NDMS Serena one of the biggest always a bad loser.

I'm not a fan of the WTA so my mantra is "In women's tennis, I always root against the favorites, the divas and the drama queens."

So, I'm totally rooting for Makarova here.

They both look knackered. Another hour please !

Looks like this is going to a 5th set.   Although I'm only looking at livescores.  Looks to be a hard slog - is it?

3rd MP for Makarova on Serena's serve.

And saved again!

Don't blow this Makarova.

ETA:  A 4th MP.

5th set it is. 4th set was nearly an hour. They've both given up earlyish at times for balls they'd probably usually run for. That set was close. Tsonga only just held on to his service games after getting a break earlyish. We'll see who can handle the physicality under 5th set pressure the best now.

I shall not be rooting for Shreikova or Azarenka as a result.
I'm all for Klijsters and Kvitova.
Serena thinks she can just come off the sidewalk and win, so I'm not supporting her either. Bad signs for women's tennis.
It doesn't matter now who wins Tsonga or Nishikori
Andy in une deux troi  Super

If you read between the lines, Serena might be retiring soon.

Makarova beat Zvonareva (seeded 7) in the previous round - also in straights - and she's still alive in the doubles.

Best of luck to her.  She's having the time of her life.

There's no excuse for Andy not to get passed quarters.

Nishikori has played some really great points to save himself when down break points. 2-5 in the 5th.
