AO 2013 R1: Murray [3] vs Haase

Quote

I just hope that Andy somehow has nerves of steel in the first set and wins easily against Haase.  This getting down a break and having to fight back is just not good for us his fans and most importantly for him.  I hope Lendl has somehow worked with Andy to give him confidence.

Agree Haase will no doubt play annoyingly much better at AO than for some time. But Andy is a different player these days so bring it on. yay
Can't stand Haase, remember him "dead on his feet" having a massage on court and then running round like bloody Superman hammer

Sorry, I'm a bit late in getting this on - busy, busy at work!

I think I saw Haase at the AO and he ended up retiring Think

Nope, scratch that, he was playing Roddick and needed treatment.  I was getting confused with Troiki vs Djokovic (Troiki ended up retiring Whistle )

I'll be very glad when Andy's through the first round beating Robin Haase and putting the ghosts of 2011 AO to rest

The highlighted ones are each top player's most potential threats until the semi.
Djokovic: Mathieu - Harrison/Giraldo - Stepanek - Wawrinka/Querrey - Berdych - Ferrer
I would say that Berdych is more of a threat than Querrey.
I think Andy's draw is quite good better that Djokovic and for once Federer.
Andy is always a bit shakey in the first round but will see off Haase, then I don't foresee a problem until Quarters with Del Potro.
Federer has Tomic in the 3rd round. Tomic has just got into an ATP tour final, and just beat Djokovic in the Hopeman Cup. Then there is Raonic, and if he gets past him he could have Tsonga who has knocked him out of GS before.

Hi All,

First rounds can be nervy things, but I think Andy will come out firing, I really do. Haase might just scrape a set, but if he does I think that will be the extent of it. If Haase does I can see Andy regrouping and trouncing him in the rest of the match. Quick, clinical, better for Andy and much better for my mental state lol.

On the other hand, the more likely scenario is Andy in straights. I know what happened at the USO in 2011, but still, as I said last night, Andy got through that one. Since then Andy's game, and just as important, his mind, has developed so much, whilst Haase has gone pretty much backwards.

Andy in straights.

I'm feeling confident about this match. The last time they met Andy was playing really poorly to concede two sets and still ended up winning. I can't see him starting as badly this time round - he's not going to play passively and let Haase take the initiative. Andy in 3 is my pick.

Yes, all scarily accurate!  "Sometimes the kindest thing we can do for our friends, family, and selves during a Grand Slam is to keep our distance.  They don’t want us to fake listen while we check our phones for the latest score".

And let's hope for this "And most of all fellow tennis fans, this year we will keep our senses of humor. Before we cry, before we throw things, before we lash out at our tennis fan friends and threaten to quit tennis forever, we will take a moment to laugh".

Can I just say that I think the writer of that knows me lol. I planned my food shopping delivery (I have to do it online) for when I thought Andy would be less likely to be playing lol.
