An opportunity/disaster has come up!!
An opportunity to go and visit one of my best friends (who lives in a totally different part of the country) has come my way.I'd go first thing tomorrow, and not get back til Tuesday next. Now,she's one of the closest people in the world to me,and I hardly ever get to see her-last time I saw her was over 8 months ago-so of course,I jumped at the chance and said yes.BUT it's gonna put paid to me making this time about the AO and cheering on Andy!!
So,if you guys wouldn't mind and would be so kind,I'm gonna need you to throw in a bit of extra cheering for me-and Andy,I'm gonna need you to still be in it this time next week so I can resume cheering you on!!

I think we all have been in this situation, so not to worry, we will all keep the good vibes going to Andy knowing that in your heart you are sending him good luck while you are gone.

Who is Sousa indeed. I know he is Portuguese and it's a rare breed in men's tennis. lol. But No. 1 player from Portugal nonetheless. I take it his best surface is clay since he made his first grand debut at RG and lost to Granollers in the 1st round in 4 sets. This is probably the 2nd time he has qualified to play in another GS. 23 years of age and right handed. Currently ranked at 100 (Rosol was here when he beat Nadal just last year). Hasn’t made any ATP finals or won any titles. So pretty small fish in a big sea. Still, he can get all pumped up at the sight of Andy. Here’s his golden chance to play one of the top players. If I was a tennis player, I’d live for moments like these.
Aye but he's only just broken through on to the main stage. Last year was his breakthrough year and judging from results, he's pretty handy on hard courts as well, so don't go thinking he's a clay specialist.

Thanks so much Apollo,much appreciated!
Yeah,I couldn't pass up the opportunity, but it's SUCH bad timing!Oh well-I'll be sending him every good vibe I can,and with any luck and justice I'll come back and he'll still be requiring my cheering

Was really impressed with Andy last night, an opponent who he had struggled with in the past was absolutely dismantled.
Murray looks like a complete player when he stands closer to the baseline and goes for his shots, because if he needs it, he has excellent defensive skills if he does get pinned deep.
Murray in 3 again.

MuzzaFan.....The person who opens the match threads used to always provide the 'head to head' too, so are you up for that?
No-one does Head to Heads like our Bev!
She finds the most incredible photos and facts. Every since I joined I've always thought of it as her domain.
Although I understand no-one owns these things.

Haha, you could say that Linda. Don't worry, I'm watching every match that I can.

I am not saying he's a clay specialist but that clay seems to be his best surface judging by the results so far. And yes, that doesn't mean he's miserable on hard. Could be quite good in fact. There are lots of players who are both good on hard and clay - perhaps not equally good though. He probably grew up on clay given his background so this should be his natural surface. We’ll find out I suppose how he is on hard. They courts play similar these days so I don’t think it matters all that much anyway.
