Gicquel and Bollelli playing tomorrow, so does that mean they will have to play twice in 2 days, or Andy will have 2 days rest?

Two days rest probably.

I'd have thought the opposite actually. Wouldn't they want the tournament to get back on track?
They have the bottom half semi scheduled for Thursday, so unless they postpone that to Friday, they'll have to catch up sometime.

I'd be surprised if they managed to get all of the first round matches sorted by the end of tomorrow. Could be wrong I suppose.

I sure hope so, but asking Bolleli/Gicquel to play twice in 2 days is a bit rough!

It would be outrageous if they had to play twice in 2 days.

Well, it won't make sense not to. If they won't catch up, it'd mean basically no men's games every second day. They couldn't do that. TV and spectators would go mad.
Anyway, if there's rain on any of half the days of the tourney (the days the top half play), it guarantees someone'll have to play consecutive days.

What's the cause for this shambles? Were there exceptionally long matches which meant the schedule was out of place?

playing twicee in two days would be a bit rough but not like playing a semi against Nadal and then a final against Fed in two days...
