WTF RR: Murray vs Berdych

Quote

Got a nosebleed up in the cheap seats. For a sell out, there were plenty of empty seats.

Thought Andy would always be in control once he upped his FSP. Shouldn't have lost the first set, even.

I got a bit nervous on the second MP though, given recent matches.

lol but so true. I was thinking about that too but then wanted to focus on the good side and hoped that he'd take it this time.

How do the points work in this tournament? Is it just the winner takes the lot, or do they get some for each match won?

They get 200 points for  a win but for the rest of the intricate details go to the Barclays 02 website and you'll see a chart showing how many games  and sets won. It will also tell you how many points they get for a semi final and final win

It is particularly satisfying to beat Berdych isn't it.

It IS particularly satisfying.  And I think Andy feels the same way.  Let's face it Berdych is hard to like.  Did you see in the pre match player interviews today that he could hardly wait to mention the weather conditions during their USO match?  Credit to Andy that he handles so well what is such an unpleasant and dangerous opponent,  He just keeps his game face on and beats him (thank god), but as he walks away, I am sure he is muttering " How did the weather conditions affect you there, you big baby!"

Ive always thought of Berdych as a big haddie so not exactly doing handstands that Andy has beaten this over-rated beanpole. Joker is a different proposition although how good is his indoor record?

Yeah exactly.... the toughest matches, for an in form Andy will be against Djoko and Fed. Fed's last chance saloon is this tourno...his fav surface...roof closed...blah blah. Djoko... always tough long matches with the winner hard to predict.

I think the reason many here found the win over Berdych-or any win over Berdych, really, but today's specifically-so satisfying is well,a) because yay,it's a win! but also b) because so many of us find him to be a most unpleasant man!

indeed dani.   And even more satisfying that he beat him when Andy was playing far from his best.
