At least Cowan took Sampras to 5 sets.

Did the reporter watch the same match as me? Pete was in third gear most of the time, like, as it was Bazza's retirement match and they'd given him Court 1, he let him win 2 sets.
He was toying with him, honest.
When it mattered, ie the 5th set, he reverted to his normal play and crushed him.

Roger Federer said about our very own Andy Murray after his five-set win over Tomas Berdych..... "It's good to have five-setters to see where you're at. I don't know how fit Murray is. I'll take him on any day in a five-setter. He's younger so he's probably not so experienced, you know. In the end it becomes very mental... That's why I'm always going to favor myself in a fifth set."
BRING IT ON!!!!!

Well, you have to admire his self-belief. I guess that's why he is where he is..... but.... my gosh, I hope he eats his words...

Was he asked directly about Murray? I used to like Fed and hate Rafa, but its the other way round now. He's just so disrepectful. I hope Andy and Rafa clean up this year!

Q. You said that after three and a half hours you were still fresh and fit. There's a lot made of Murray and Nadal's fitness. Do you feel you're as fit as these guys?
ROGER FEDERER: Yeah. I mean, I've played five hours against Rafa on clay and against other players as well. These kind of tests don't come around very often. I had a time in my career I hardly played five‑setters, like for two or three years, so I didn't know why where I was until all of a sudden that crazy match with Safin here in 2005.
Then I knew where I was. I was in pain because of my feet. That was a different issue. It's good to have five‑setters to see where you're at. I don't know how fit Murray is. I'll take him on any day in a five‑setter. He's younger so he's probably not so experienced, you know.
In the end it becomes very mental, and I know that this is where my biggest strengths always comes into play. That's why I'm always going to favor myself in a fifth set.

And can't believe he said that! I read that thinking you were quoting him from a couple of years ago.

He's digging his own grave as far as I'm concerned.

I dont think theres anything wrong with what Fed said there. He i sbasically saying he doesnt know how fit Andy is but hell back himself if it went to 5 sets.
Nothing wrong there guys.

Didn't mention Rafa. He said he'd take Murray on any day in a 5-setter. Everything is focused on Murray.

What is Fed's 5 set record?
He beat Andreev in 5 last year at the USO, he won today, he lost to Rafa in Rome and Wimbledon 08, beat Rafa at Miami 05 and Wimbledon 07.
So that's 4-2 from what I can remember.
