Didn't mention Rafa. He said he'd take Murray on any day in a 5-setter. Everything is focused on Murray.

Thats the comment I dont like. It's like hes a boxer, trying to intimidate his next opponent! I really hope Murray beats him or Djokovic in Oz!

Feds 5 set record is 13-11 after today.

Clydey he probably didnt mention Rafa becase he may not feel as confident of beating Rafa in 5. If he feels he can beat Murray in 5 then lets hope Andy can prove him wrong.

Mark, Andy is very fit after his training camp but its too early to say that it has made him the fittest on the tour in my opinion. I still remember the amount of matches Nadal had to play in the 2nd week of Wimbledon 07 and he still took federer to 5 sets in the final.

At the moment, Nadal has proven that he is very fit and can last the distance. Until Murray does that, his muscles and 6 pack dont really prove anything to me.

Quite right its not but the point is if he thinks he can beat andy in 5 then let him think that. All this talk from Fed is not disrespectful towards andy but it may be that Federer is talking himself into a hole.

It's disrespectful in relative terms - Federer doesn't talk this way about any other player and therefore it's fair to say he is being disrespectful.

I like it though, in a strange way, it shows that Andy clearly rattles him, and it exposes that Alp climbing, knife toting, toblerone eating ponce for what he is.

Maybe Roger feels Andy is the man who is going to win the top half and therefore the man he has to beat to win the title. Personally Mark and a few others here, you are jumping on Federer for nothing. I see it as a compliment that hes talkig about having to beat Murray in 5 sets rather than Rafa or Novak.

It is a compliment, but that is not how Federer intends it to sound.

Fed's trying to convince himself he can beat someone who's 6-1 up on him over the last 3 years. No-one, not even Nadal, has a record close to that. The only thing Andy hasn't done is beat him over 5 sets, and he's got to hang on to that.

He's not going to say "Murray's not got any real weaknesses and his game matches up well against mine, which is why he kicks my arse nearly every time we play. I'm scared sh*tless, because if we meet in the final he's going to kill me unless I get lucky with the scheduling again."

The fact he's saying these things tells me he doesn't really believe he can beat Andy. And that's not a bad thing. That's a good thing.  yes

Yes, this is why I'm also happy about his comments because it shows him up for who he really is.

Federer is being truthful in a way - Andy's new strength is relatively untried in the 5 setters but I think Fed is afraid of Andy and what Andy will eventually be able to do, even if he may not be quite there yet.

Im sorry guys I find nothing disrespectful in Federers comments at all. He has said he doesnt know how fit Murray is but hed back himself to win in 5 sets if he has to. Some of you need to stop jumping on Federers back for everything he says.

You have beaten Djokovic, Rafael Nadal twice, Roger Federer three times in a row. Do these matches put you in a situation where you have a lot of pressure because you came here maybe the favorite player to win the slam?

Andy: No, I mean, those matches gave me a lot of confidence. Now when I go out on the court against them I feel like I can win against them on a regular basis, which wasn't necessarily the case in the past

This is taken from an interview on am.com Murray says he can beat there players on a regular basis now, whats the difference between this and what Fed said??

Federer's an arrogant ass who's spitting the dummy out of the pram cause he's not the King of the castle anymore. He's basically throwing a strop cause people have stopped treating him as if his path to the final is paved with gold. He's got to a point where he needs other people's confidence to believe in his own ability. This is new to him and he doesn't quite know how to deal with it. This is his reaction.

And can I just say, Berdych had him on the ropes yesterday and bottled it. If that had been Andy, Nole, Rafa or even Simon, Federer would be out!
