I don't think it's that, I just disagree with you that it was a mediocre performance. He didn't look quite right, and for whatever reason he went walkabout in set 3. For a bloke still in the process of recovery from back surgery, and testing things out, I think he did well. The first two sets were fine, then he did that spectacular recovery in set 3. I think it was a combination of getting a bit bored and losing focus and a slight miscalculation in reigning things back to conserve energy. He still did it in 3, unlike Del Potro.
