Yes I watched that match today. I am not sure if he is back to full strength. I think he was still not trying to  put weight on his left leg. As you say Emma Jean we will have to wait and see.

Speaking of Nadal, he nearly destroyed Alund. Is he getting better? I guess we will find out after May.

Saw some of the Alund/Nadal match today when they showed it during a break in Dubai.

Nadal still isn't quite there. I think a top player could, and probably would, get through him just now. I don't think his movement is quite there, and I don't know, but he sometimes seems a bit uncertain at key times, but that will change as his confidence grows. His movement against those at the top is the thing that I think could be interesting. He doesn't look slow as such, just not quite there.

Nadal had more than enough for Alund, quite clearly, but if things don't improve that much very soon I think the clay season might not be so cut and dried.

You know how we worry about Andy being undercooked since he's chosen not to play in February but look at Nadal. The guy took more than 7 months break and yet he made the final upon return in his first tournament and won the 2nd. I really think this 'undercook' term is taken a bit too out of context these days. I'd say a player is much more affected when he plays longer matches and too many matches. That really takes a lot out of the tank.

In any case, I didn't see Rafa's match today obviously but that bagel stuff was a bit scary. Though Alund might have been just in awe playing Nadal and took a while to get back his things together.

I think if we get a Rafa- Ferrer final in Acapulco that may indicate where Rafa is at. If he can beat someone like Ferrer then he's only one step away and a few weeks away from being a real threat to the top 3. But on hardcourts i dont think Rafa can expect much, rumor has it he'll withdraw from IW and Miami anyway.

Man cant wait for IW to see Andy again...needs some big points for that no 2 seeding at RG and Wimby. Hopefully Berdych does the business tomorrow as well--every little helps....

When is the draw ceremony for Indian Wells? I can't wait to see who Andy will face.

Never mind. Main draw action on the WTA starts on Wednesday, with the draw being on Monday. ATP main draw starts on Thursday with the draw being on Tuesday. What happened to a Monday start?

Main Draw, has it always been a mid week start?

For IW and Miami it is as they are both 96-man draws, and thus have seven rounds of matches. Two days of qualies during the first week allows players playing in ATP/Challenger tournaments the week before to play and some time for those playing in Asia and South America to adjust.

You just never know, with Andy.  I've learned the hard way to predict nothing!  Very Happy
