Brisbane SF: Murray vs Tomic

Now I may be wrong, but wasn't this the guy that faced Nadal in last years AO that was pushing him hard?
Andy and Bernard have never met, so should be interesting to watch.
Hopefully someone in the Murray camp has done their homework.
Yep, the crowd will be behind their (German born) man but that shouldn't trouble Andy any.
H2H despite nothing to compare but nice to look at a Sylvie photo
No schedule out as of yet.

Second semi tomorrow, play starts an hour later than it did today, so a potential start from around 5am GMT.

I love Tomic's play. When Andy hangs his racquet up he could well be my favourite player. He, too, has got every shot in the book and a better forehand than Andy. Also, Andy could learn from his on-court demeanour, he is an ice-man. His movement isn't nearly so good though, nor is he so good at the net.
Also, unfortunately he has a "mad dad" who could well scupper his future.

I wonder if Tomic's movement issue is down to his size - 6' 5" and still only 19. He hasn't played many matches to say that he's been around for 3+ years. Has he had some injuries?
Hopefully Andy will come out again in the same frame of mind as he did today.

I would say he is very much still developing physically. A big lad 196 cm and 91kg.
This will be a toughie I reckon. Tomic will be fired up like never before as a Home player and he is not fased when facing the top ranked players, no at all. I remember him from Wimbeldon.
The daddy is a pain in the butt, I've heard. Embarrasing for the lad.
Anyway, Andy has his work cut out for him tomorrow.

Courage isn't absence of fear but mastery of it.

Tomic is going to be really up for this one. He says he's feeling confident, although admits that he often lacks self-belief when it comes to the big points, and that his game has greatly improved over the past year during which he claimed a few scalps, most notably that of Robin Soderling who he beat in straight sets at Wimbledon. He's determined to win his maiden title here on home soil and the crowd are obviously going to be right behind him, although vociferous crowds don't normally faze Andy - in fact he thrives on them whether for or against him.
This is going to be a tough match for Andy so hopefully he will replicate the form he showed against Baghdatis and come out firing on all cylinders at the start.

Federer has dropped out of his match against Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, claiming a sore back. Or is it because Jo knows how to beat him??
