Cincinnati 2014 QF: Andy Murray vs. Roger Federer

Quote

Unfortunately I think Andy will lose. Probably in 2 sets. He has done nothing this year to suggest he can beat a top ten player never mind a top 3 player.

I disagree. He has shown plenty of evidence that he can beat top players; he just hasn't been able to remain consistent enough to get the wins. He has demonstrated that he still has the shots, the pace and the skills; now he needs to apply all of them consistently. As it's Fed, Andy will be super fired up for this, and should be able to draw a lot of positives from the Isner match.

I don't understand this thing about 'just needing to be more consistent'. At any level, in any sport, being consistent is what defines you as being accomplished.

OH lol! Perhaps we could have two match threads, one just for those who seem to think Andy losing is a foregone conclusion Shrug It's really depressing to read comments suggesting this already.
I have no idea who will win. I'm not sure Andy is quite up to speed yet and Fed continues to amaze me. The way he served against Nole was astonishing. How does he do it?
But as an Andy fan, of course I believe he can and will do it.
Come on  yay

Exactly. And when he has been more consistent, he has accomplished more. His lack of consistency this year has affected his accomplishments. Kind of obvious really?

Anyway, it doesn't matter since I will be missing it. Might be able to watch the first few games.

Surprisingly, I'm quite confident about this one.

Wavering, Connor?    A few hours ago you were sure Fed would win.

Where did I say that? Can't remember, but probably did say it.

I suppose, but not much better in any case.

Connor, anything is a lot better than Fed will win.
