Actually we are all wrong regarding Andy in cincinatti. Clearly Kim has put her foot down and told Andy point blank no way is he bringing that ugly vase home. He chose Berdych to beat him as a thank you for doing the Queen's charity match and to avoid giving Fed or Rafa any mistaken notion that they could beat him.
That's my thinking too!
I was away, so missed the match, but it seems that Andy could have played better, but he knows he could have played better, and Berdych is a very good player. It's disappointing that Andy couldn't capitalise on an early Djokovic loss, or keep his #2 ranking, but it's hardly the end of the world.
A bit of extra time in New York will do him good. He's already tweeted a photo from an empty Arthur Ashe court. I don't know if he's getting in some early practice, or just having a moment like he's done at Wimbledon, to get him in the zone.
Being the defending champion means he'll have extra attention and extra duties this year too.
