Cincinnati R2: Murray vs Youzhny

Quote

Mikhail Youzhny overcame Ernsts Gulbis 7-5, 6-3, to deny Murray a quick rematch to try to avenge his Montreal defeat.

Their H2H is 3-0 Murray, with their most recent meeting being in R4 at Wimbledon where Murray won in straight sets.  Prior to that they had only met at Valencia in 2009 (final) and St Petersburg in 2007 (SF).

Youzhny was in fine fettle against Gulbis.

Last year, the beginning of the hardcourt season was worrying when he was able to play just the one match at Toronto, then went on to lose to Chardy in the 3rd round at Cincy.

We all know what happened after that. yes

The difference is that this year Andy managed to get four doubles matches under his belt in Montreal as well as two singles, so I'm hoping for a better showing this time, although it seems that when Andy does well in the Rogers Cup he doesn't do so well in Cincy - maybe due to the fact that he hasn't had much time to acclimatise to the court and weather conditions.

Youzhny was playing very well against Gulbis, so I'm expecting a tough match here.

just got in and there's a surprise - not bothered about Andy getting revenge or anything.  Glad if Gulbis pulled down a peg or two.   Hope Andy has played himself into  form now with the dubs practice - if he has shouldn't have too many problems though it does sound as if Youzny has been playing well in recent weeks so we shouldn't underestimate him.

Where did you see that Angie?  Not that I'm disbelieving you!  Matches start at 11am (4pm BST) so, yes, possible estimate 7:30pm.
