Federer has nothing to gain points wise at dubai I think he will pull out of all the small tournaments he can get away with this year and only defend his big points. Just do the minimum to maintain the status quo.
Maybe he is hoping that Murrays Purple patch will come to an end soon and he hasn't yet realised that Andys here to stay and Federers time is nearing an end.

Lets hope Andy's in Djokovic's half so they'll hopefully be another Murray v Nadal final.
I think Fed will still have to zero pointer for Dubai in his rankings even though he pulled out injured.

In all honesty, I'm quite disappointed with Fed not being there. I was really looking forward to Andy beating him again! At tournaments like this, I think it's more exciting to see stronger fields, especially as we would expect Andy to take down anyone in a 3-setter now anyway! I was looking forward to a Roddick/Fed/Nadal style elimination from Andy. The main reason I was disappointed at him dropping Marseille was the fact he wouldn't get to beat Djoko! Even if it made perfect sense.

When was the last time Federer pulled out of a tournament through injury?
This, combined with the fact that Nadal may not have recovered/want to risk aggravating his injury means that Andy could be 2nd seed in Dubai!

Ah, true! OK, before that then! He's been incredibly lucky not to suffer a serious injury throughout his dominance.

Disappointing. Half of the top 10 have pulled out.
Andy's definitely favourite now!

Its looking like this will be one of Murray's few chances to play Djoko. Beating him in the final would be an excellent way of lining up to overtake him at Indian Wells

I see Andy Ram got his visa....making Peer's non-visa decision even more ridiculous. Maybe the ATP told their top players that if they wanted to pull out they wouldn't be zero pointed. Politics?
