good luck tomorrow Andy.I have never seen you serve this consistently for a long while,so thi should give Federer food for thought if you can produce this tomorrow.Iwas so proud of you today, you played really well. I am sure this is the start of something good for you. Isincerely hope so as reward for all the work you put in despite the negative comments you get from the commentators and some of the media. Looking forward to tomorrow, hope luck is on your side, come on Andy x

I'm looking forward to this, particularly because they haven't played each other in such a long time. It'll be interesting to see where their games are relative to each other.

Like hes did in the Australian Open final or the US Open final? Wink  Talk is cheap at the end of the day! Both are playing well, Murray actually played the better today, no doubt about it, but Roger is more than capable of winning this for a 5th time for sure.

The matches you mention were a couple of years ago.  The brutal truth is that the significant results for Andy in this tournament have already happened.  Beating Berdych, because of the losing H2H and his dangerous unpredictability; Beating Djorkovic because he's the no. 1 and they will no doubt be meeting each other often in the years to come.   kiss

As someone who dislikes Fedlover and his phoney preppy facade, then my tournament will be complete if Andy beats him.   woohoo   I think Andy enjoys having a winning record against him because he also glimpses the Goat God, when the mask slips.   rule  However as they are at different stages in their careers, their career trajectories pointing in different directions, then it would be more of a surprise if Fedlover was to win tomorrow.  Either way, those trajectories make the result relatively meaningless. You dig?   shades

You played fantastic today Andy Mr. Magic. Including holding your nerve when the little voices in your head were trying to put doubt into your mind. Take the confidence you've gained in these last two matches and use it to your advantage and once again let your racquet do the talking.  Serve up aces and great returns and defeat roger. May the force be with you Andy.

I think that's the best way to look at this match rather than who's going to beat who, especially as, in addition to what you say, they're both now at noticeably different stages in their career.  Federer can still produce sublime tennis but his is winding down, whereas Andy's is, hopefully, about to reach its successful peak.

Well doesn't look like anyone has posted a H2H, though we are all aware of the scoreline, and Julia posted a photo that was begging to be used!

My Sunday night wine date has just been postponed but I have a lovely bottle of Australian white chilling in my fridge that's begging to be drunk - 4 am won't be too early will it? partyman

I'm up for Andy to win this - I don't care if it takes 3 3 set tie breaks.  cmonandy  You have Roger's number and don't forget it!

Thanks, Bev. At least you've been kind to Roger by not putting up a really bad pic of him because you could have easily done so. lol.

The timing is so perfect for me. I was so not looking forward to wake up early in the morning again. Not even at 8am. Am very lazy when it comes to Saturday and Sunday mornings. The weekends are mine... all mine. And I schedule it as I see fit. The only person I allow to mess it up is Andy and speaking of whom...

Come on, Murrya! Put on a show for us!

Thanks Emma and yeah, I could have easily gone the other way but that wouldn't have been fair really. Very Happy

Anyway, came across this on Yahoo:-

The second seed said he was looking forward to renewing his rivalry with Murray on Saturday, especially since the two had not faced off in 2011.

"Last year was sort of hard to find each other with Novak sort of never losing - he was either cutting my way off or his way," Federer told reporters.

"So it's nice he (Murray) had a breakthrough win tonight. He played great and I expect a really difficult match in the final.

"He has a winning record against me, but we've played each other so many times we know each other's games well.  I'm just excited playing against him again after such a long time. Andy is an amazing player, and so far he's proved that this year."

I've just realised, what that ^ headline says.  Andy was into the final first, so surely Federer beats Delpo to set up Murray showdown Think

Interesting to read smugfed making unusually positive comments about Andy.  Perhaps he's realised that it hasn't reflected too well on him when he's been either negative or condescending.  Let's hope he gets the really difficult match he is expecting - difficult for him that is.  cmon yeah Andy

I like the two B&W classical photos. Nice change Bev!
The match will be a thriller and both players have something BIG to prove. Federer of course fighting to remain in the upper echelons also has pts to defend and his history, regarding his previous successes in Dubai.

Andy will have to fight and focus hard, Roger is still a man to be reckoned with. I believe he also has a lot of respect for RFs achievements too, but Andy is a man on a mission and he won't let anybody f**k with him today! Excuse the language please. Embarassed

Wine? I have the same dilemma Bev.
Being of weak character, I sometimes need a drink during matches. Here’s a solution for bad consciences: Norwegian tradition has the ”vorspiel” or warming-up party, which precedes the main celebration and takes place at any time of day.  If that doesn’t help try the “nachspiel”, a post-celebration party, usually held between 1:00 -7:00. Both options are socially acceptable!  partyman
