Telegraph article:
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/tennis/andymurray/9114271/Andy-Murray-can-expect-Tomas-Berdych-to-provide-big-hitting-test-in-Dubai-quarter-finals.html

Andy says... “If he’s serving huge and getting the first hit in in the rallies then it’s very difficult to play him,” Murray admitted. “I’ll have to try to find a way of neutralising that by using a lot of variety in my game. He can make mistakes, but you need to force him into them. If you leave the ball in the middle of the court, he hits it very, very well.”

Berdych says:  “When I saw the draw I was really pointing my finger to this match, and thinking that I would like to get there and to play with Andy,”

Lendl says: (When asked about the possibility of another post-Melbourne hangover) “I did not observe any residual effects from the Australian Open other than positive ones. That’s not to say that he’s definitely going to go on a tear right now but I didn’t notice any signs of him being down or anything like that."

It's well documented that Berdych is a bit of a bogey player for Andy although they have only met 4 times - I somehow thought it would have been more confused and though it is a bit lobsided, it's no worse than 9-18 Whistle

H2H below, and big gaps between the match's Think

Berdcych is extremely dangerous off the ground no doubt so Andy will have to be careful. He should remain calm and should control the match. Federer himself is an attacking player but when he faces players like Cilic or Del Potro or Berdych, he takes a back sit and allows these players to go for it and eventually to the point where they get frustrated and start making all sorts of mistakes. He himself admitted after the match he had against Cilic at the USO. I really focus on these matches simply because they give an insight as to what strategy one should adopt against hard hitters. Cilic in that match almost got away with it or you'd think he did but in reality, Federer was always quietly in control of that match and won in 4 sets. He of course never let himself get broken and that’s exactly where Andy’s danger truly lies.

Should be an intriguing match, very hard to predict the outcome in this one. Great to see Andy serving much more solidly today than he did against Berrer which gives me cause for optimism. Berdych can be very difficult to break so it's important that Andy doesn't throw in any sloppy service games. It's a good chance to rectify the head to head, especially should he meet Berdych in a slam quarter final this year. The last time they met in Paris Andy was running out of steam after his outstanding run of tournament wins in Asia and probably carrying one or two niggling injuries as well, and the defeat at Roland Garros a couple of years back was before Andy found some confidence on the clay so I'm not reading too much into their previous meetings..in saying that i rate Berdych highly so it will probably be a close match. I'm going for a 4-6, 7-6, 6-4 Andy win! cmon yeah

Although Berdych is a tough nut, Andy is the better player (despite the stats betwen them, thanks as always, Bev).  Wasn't it with him there was a ball problem last time--new balls, etc.

Can't seem to get smileys attached to post lately, so >

RG 2010 - Andy was in the process of recovering from his post AO-slump and was also still working on improving his game on clay.

Paris 2011 - He hadn't played since Shanghai, having been forced to withdraw from Basel due to a freak gluteal muscle injury, from which he was still recovering, and also had a slight hamstring problem.  Then there was the matter of the controversial unscheduled change of 3 balls in the 4th game of the decider when Andy was two BPs up, something which saw Berdych take the next 4 points and which unsettled Andy.

Today - Andy's in a much more positive frame of mind right now than he was at this time in 2010/2011 and has had 11 days' intensive coaching by Lendl in Florida.  Also he tends to improve the further he works his way into a tournament.  Berdych has played in the DC and two tournaments since the AO so will be match sharp, but could be feeling a little tired by now.

I'm expecting a 3-setter here but wouldn't like to predict the winner.

Would've liked Andy to have an extra "warming up" match b4 meeting Bogey-man Berdych, also expect he's still not 100% fit. Behind the sofa time for Andy fans today.
Win or lose his eyes are on a different prize these days and I'm not going to read anything into a loss.
Come on Andy, just believe  Super
