Having listened to the interview, I don't think that Andy fears Ferrer but knows that he's in for a tough match.

Thanks for the usual H2H Bev.
I agree.... Andy sure doesn't sound like he "fears" Daveed to me, but gives him the respect he so rightly deserves.

I never vote on the poll.
Can't.
C'mon Andy!

I don’t see Andy being as motivated as the other day,

According to your logic, 'Marilyn.'
I personally see Andy as being incredibly motivated, and why shouldn't he be? Freakin' QF on clay against Ferrer??
Speaking as a die-hard fan... I'm as motivated as a piggy running amok in a butcher shop.

I agree with Bev.  I don't read fear into what Andy said in the interview but respect for Ferrer.  He's quoted in one of the papers today as saying people underestimate Ferrer and he has pointed out he's been in top 5-6 for a long time.  I hadn't realised he practises alot with Ferrer and sounds like they get on very well. It will be a tough match as Andy says and I don't agree Ferrer will give up if he goes behind as he doesn't usually give up.  I like Ferrer but would love Andy finally to beat him on clay and when it matters most ie in a grand slam.

I'm really looking forward to this matchup and am feeling quite confident about Andy's chances. He's got the variety in his game that could trouble David - he struggles so much with Federer because of how he mixes up the pace with his slice and Andy could use the same tactic. I think this is what he needs to do, stop David from getting rhythm on the baseline.

Can anyone on the ground in Paris give us a weather update? BBC has it as cloudy with showers for the morning. To brighten up in the afternoon but still with a chance of showers. Temperature 20C

Roland Garros site has current temperature at 16 degrees, 66 in old money.  Sorry, talking crap here (and I hadn't drunk all the beer at this point).  So 2pm temps quoted as being 73/23 at 2pm with showers.  Warmer than when Andy played Richard.

I'm just having a beer and then I'm off to bed for a few hours - thinking of getting up at about 1.30 am - 3.30 pm local time.  Hopefully I'm judging it about right.

I'm well hyped up and excited about the match today, if Andy shows the same positivity as he did (after the first set) against Gasquet he has a chance but Ferrer is a tough nut to crack unlike the flaky Frenchman. Ferrer's consistency is his greatest strength and he won't be giving Andy many cheap points today. What a boost it would be if Andy could beat such a rated player on clay, it would be the perfect warm up for Rafa if he can get the job done. This is where Mr Lendl can really pay off if he can inspire Andy to victory, here's hoping! cmon yeah

I'm sure Andy and Lendl will have devised a game plan.  Andy knows Ferrer's game so well - he'll know where the weaknesses are as well as the strengths.

From Telegraph:

The Spanish formula produces a fine crop of precise percentage players, who are especially effective in the attritional physical war that is clay-court tennis. But they can also be a mite predictable.

“It takes a lot of the thinking out of the game,” Murray said on Tuesday, “because they’re very drilled into certain patterns of play. They probably have five or six patterns that they use and they work very well.”

I like that Andy knows all the patterns... and is a creative thinker on court. yes

Just found that Eurosport player is showing the McEnroes playing Gomez/Sanchez. People are wearing T shirts - no umbrellas or blankets!
