I think if he doesn't win one of the next 2 slam events then it's going to be very difficult for him to win one. Andy's predicament is that, as he said in an interview after losing to Nadal last week, he is 10-15% behind Rafa and the guys at the top of the game (Djok and Federer). So for Andy to be on the same level as the top 3, he needs to improve 10-15% while those guys remain at the level they are at. 10-15% is a lot of ground to make up, and tbh I'm not sure if he has the capacity to improve to such a degree. He is already trying his best and so far that hasn't been enough. The good news for Andy is that Djokovic and Nadal are already so good that they aren't likely to become significantly better than they already are, while Federer is nearly 30 and entering the twilight of his career. The bad news is that there are younger players emerging like Tomic and Dimitrov who could be competing for slams within the next couple of years. Let's also not forget Del Potro who is now back in the top 20 and could still be a threat at the US and Australian Open.

Andy certainly has the ability to win slams, and he deserves to win at least one. Most people would agree that he is the best male player never to have won a slam. There are players worse than Andy who won slams during their careers - Johansson is probably the most obvious one. There are others who won at least one slam whom I would consider to be worse players than Andy: Korda, Muster, Ivanisevic, Roddick and Gaudio. None of that necessarily means that Andy will actually win a slam. I really hope he does though.

I am sure he will but dont think it will be Wimbeldon to much pressure on him probably the U.S.open.

Muzza: He is indeed trying his best but does he have the best external forces to help him achieve his maximum? I don't think so.

We will see the true impact of Darren Cahill before his next tournament as he will get time to train with him but unless he goes full time, it might not be enough.

Agree it's not going to be Wimbledon but Andy won US Open juniors so I feel it's his best chance. He's been injured playing there the last couple of years unfortunately Frown
He has 3 years max IMHO. He is very injury prone and that'll kick in as he gets older.  I know older players have won slams, but not in this exceptional era, they wouldn't.

I think I agree, although I'd love to be proved wrong. No matter how hard he works physically, he has demons - be they his dad leaving, the Dunblane massacre, obstinance, or just a general lack of belief - eating at him. This is the real issue.

Well, I guess my answer to this question is 'You never know'. I mean a year, or two years ago who would think that Djokovic will beat Rafa Nadal five times in a row, and become world number one becouse Rafa and Federer were so dominant. Maybe Djokovic's success will help Andy to realise to work harder and play without fear. So, I guess we'll see. It's all on Andy to prove us that he can win a grand slam.

I think he will win one. At the moment it's a mental hurdle having to face those ranked above him in the finals - he just needs the draw to open up for him a bit. His slam performances are getting better, so if he can keep improving I see no reason why he can't win one at some point. Think the Australian Open will be his first one.

Well, I didn't at the time, but looking at the landscape now... can you really see beyond the top 3 for the big titles?
