Don't think Andy would accept a knighthood as he is still very young. Perhaps it would be nice when he retires from playing tennis he should be knighted for services to tennis. yay yay yay yay yay yay yay yay yay yay yay yay yay yay yay yay yay yay yay yay yay yay yay yay yay yay yay yay yay yay yay yay yay yay yay yay

It's an absolute stick on as far as I'm concerned. Wiggins got a knighthood last year and what Murray has done is (with all respect to cycling) far more culturally significant.

^ I doubt Andy would thank you for it, anyway - so don't sweat.

Maybe not, but I definitely don't think he'd reject it. I know this is a bit of a hot button issue with nationalists, but the one thing Andy has always tried to do is avoid getting involved in politics, especially the independence debate.

At this point I think it's probably more of a political statement to reject a knighthood than it is to accept one (whether that should be the case or not is another question).

I wasn't looking at it from a Political point of view.  Of course he'd accept it.  I was just meaning I don't think it would be particularly important to him, as a person.

He'll get one after he retires, but I reckon there's a good chance he'll get an upgrade to a CBE in the New Year's list.

That said, he's still to collect his OBE, and if Queenie was sufficiently impressed, she might just whip out the sword and be done with it! lol

I think things like statues etc at actual Wimbledon should also wait until he's retired.  I think it would be weird to have that kind of stuff around while he's still competing at the venue.

Agreed - plus they'd want to wait so they could put his full acievements on the accompanying plaque - tho my bro says they'll have one up bynext week ( think he was joking). Amazing - we took photis with the Fred Perry statue 14 years ago then again last week. Now Andy is our champ! Wowsa!

Well he's a shoe in for the Sports personality of the year award this year, i think the knighthood will wait until he has retired, or close to it.
