Jeez Andy wastes 4 MPs - and DFs!
That second serve looked in to me and I think Andy thought it was too!
Anyway. he won in straight sets - that's the important thing. Not the most conclusive of wins certainly, with a lot of unforced errors, but David played some good tennis.

Scrappy at the end. Thats our Andy! He said it was very windy so that would account for some of the difficulty for both players.
He's actually getting better at interviews, more chatty and not so toungue tied.
Notice he said Lendl is helping him with the mental side of his game. Thats good!!!
Yes, I heard that encouraging news - and also what he said about Tomic, so hope the Aussie press were listening.
Roll on the AO! Glad to hear Kim is there.
Night all!

Didn't see this, but Andy doesn't like the wind does he? Remember a certain match when Rafa coped much better.

Hmm don't like the sound of all this clutching but perhaps it's just OA doing his usual. Took a drink of beer? Blimey as he never drinks alcohol think what effect that might have had. Anyway if any kinks in his game, better they emerge in this practice match so Mr L can iron them out over the w/e. I wonder which day Andy will start. I hope the scheduling is kinder to him than it usually is in GSs.

The clutching, (usual) grimacing and some chunnering to himself were signs that he wasnt please with his performance. However, it got no worse than that, thank god.
Minding his Ps and Qs I should think because of ..."He who must be obeyed"!
It was a funny moment, which raised a laugh when he quenched his thirst with a slurk of beer from a spectators bottle! The man didnt seem to mind, he just wiped the bottle top with his hand and continued drinking!
Andy said at the end, the beer tasted awful. It was like the light hearted antics seen at the WTC in Adelaine, where everyone clowns around.
A pity he wasted 4 M Points before closing out. That is the kind of weakness/problem that has cost him important sets and matches in the past.
He was a bit "off" in that match but I cant imagine he wanted to bust his guts to win it.

I don't think Andy was pulling out all the stops, when he needed to he upped his game. Serving was good. you could feel that Andy wanted to give the crowd some time on court...they wouldn't have felt they had had their money's worth if it had been 6-3, 6-2.

Sounds like it was played in good spirits for most part.

Yes, and David played well. Big serve and ball placement just in/on the lines was good. Many shots Andy couldnt return, so all credit to DN.
I can see why he can cause an upset.

Didn't see the whole match... just the last few games.
So funny when he ran after a ball off court and took a swig of someone's beer..
(yes.. he did!)
Interesting at the end of the match when he was asked about Tomic.. and he said he knew what it was like, and if he (Tomic) was left alone he might do well.
I thought Andy was teetotal

Yes I noticed Andy exercised quite a lot of restraint in this match. Big Daddy certainly won't be putting up with any hystrionics!
Not sure it was too wise to drink out of somebody else's bottle though, purely from a hygiene point of view - but it shows the lighter side of Andy that we all know and love.
Those wasted MPs were a bit of a worry, as was some of his game, but it must be a little difficult to get totally motivated for a match which isn't truly competitive, and Andy at least managed to keep his focus.
Also I'm not too concerned about him clutching his knee. It was the dodgy right one which does act up from time to time, although it was clearly troubling him at the start of Brisbane. So fingers crossed.

Kooyong means nothing and unless he got injured can be overlooked as a bit of practice. Also it was very windy but still won in straights so again nothing to fret about.
