Latest News on Andy and Roland Garros

Looks skinny, good. Had "beefed" up too much.
And that extra muscle weight probably wasn't helping his back either.

I guess this time tommorow we'll know. Whatever decision Andy makes i'm behind him 100%!! Wonder where Lendl is last I heard he was arranging a flight to Paris....
I heard a couple of days ago that he already had a flight booked for Wed/Thurs, which could well be true given that it's probably easier to cancel at short notice, if he has to, than wait and then try to book a convenient flight at the last minute.

I think the decision was made definitively over the weekend. Andy was skeptical so he underwent some scans. Hence why Lendl booked the flight.

He so darned good-looking.
Yes he is. More handsome than many male models or movie stars. Good looks aside, I just hope Andy will get his back problem diagnosed and treated, by resting or any other medical means.

Listening to 5lives RG preview just now and Ross H is one of the guests.  Ross seemed to really play down the likelyhood of Andy playing.  Overs and Neil Harman both reckoned he was going to play.

What is obvious to me is that the first scan/specialist opinion has not resulted in a definitive view that playing RG would cause further damage - I'm pretty sure that if that had happened, Andy would already have withdrawn.

I reckon Andy should just stop playing on clay. He has no problems with his back until the clay season starts. Its just not worth it. He can play some diddy hard court tournaments in Khazahstan or wherever.

I think Andy will play, if it was serious why would he have to wait 2 more days to announce? I would have announced it straight off.

Ross was very rightly non committal but his tone didn't make me think Andy would play.

That's also what I took from it - but it could be that Ross knows that Andy will play and doesn't want to give the game away  w00t

I reckon so too, but I guess he's waiting to see what today's scan shows up, and when the second specialist's opinion is, before making a definite announcement.  That way he can hopefully silence his critics.

If I had to put my money on it though, I'm sure Andy won't play if there's the slightest doubt about his fitness - and Ross knows him a lot better than either Overend or Harman.

Batz - if you double post, you can delete one of them by clicking on the 'Delete' box in the top RH corner beside 'Quote' and 'Edit'.  Took me months to discover that! Whistle

Lendl's flight was probably booked weeks, maybe months ago.  The journalist who mentioned it only checked with his agent to see if his flight had been cancelled.  Not cancelling the flight just means he's keeping his options open.   Even if Andy withdraws, Ivan could still catch the flight, then hop on Eurostar to London.

I seem to recall seeing something on twitter about one of Ivan's daughters being in Europe at the minute and planning to be in Paris, so he might just take the flight and have a holiday before going to London.

I get the impression that the question isn't "could Andy play?", rather "is it a good idea for him to play?"  That's a much trickier question.

Never mind Lord Jesus - no offence, but I'm glad you've reinstated Andy as your avatar.  Angie too will be really chuffed!

I forgot to mention, as well as Andy's 3 Finals streak (and note that only four players have made 4 in a row; Federer, Nadal, Agassi and Djokovic). He is also still on his 9 consecutive QF streak (which puts him 6th on that list) and if he got to 10 joint 5th. I really want him to try and keep those going :(
