Madrid 2010
« on: May 08, 2010, 03:43 PM »
1R : Bye
2R : Qualifer/Cuevas
3R : Querrey/Hanescu/Andreev
QF : Ferrer/Cilic/Baghdatis
SF : Federer/Roddick/Gulbis/Youzhny/Wawrinka
Hopefully he's gets to face Ferrer again, beating mediocre Clay courters won't tell us that much.

probably as favourable a draw as we could have hoped for, i think he might get the better of ferrer this time round should they meet with the juicy carrot of a semi-final against federer to aim at..could be a good time to play fed as well as he is looking rusty just now. i've got a good feeling that this could be a good tournament for andy. if he serves well (i admit that's quite a big 'if' at the moment)! he will go far IMO..
good potential match ups in the the other half of the draw verdasco v soderling then the winner playing nadal..should be interesting!

With this draw, you'd expect nothing less than a QF.

I just want the fire back. If Andy's going full throttle, I'll be happy.

This is a good looking draw. If Andy can get to QF then it will help boost his confidence. I wonder whether his team has recorded how well Andy played last year, pushing even Nadal to help jog Andy's memory.

Are you sure? Cuevas is no mug on clay, Hanescu/Andreev both have some previous on the surface, I'm sure Querrey had a good clay run in some tournament earlier in the year... Not as straightforward as is being made out.

Exactly what I was thinking.
An obscure South American journeyman is not what a clay donkey like Murray needs right now.

Querrey loses to the guy ranked 355th in the world.
Has to beat Chela and Hanescu or Munoz-De La Nava to reach the QF, nice and straight forward.
