Madrid QF: [3] Murray vs. [6] Berdych

Reply

Murray scraped past Simon 2-6, 6-4, 7-6(6) and will now face a familiar foe in Berdych tomorrow at (not before) 7 PM BST. These two have met 8 times before with each man winning 4 matches. Berdych has gotten the better of Murray in all of their clay encounters however and leads 2-0. Neither man is in particularly convincing form at the moment, but I feel Berdych has the edge in this match-up in general so he might get the better of Andy again tomorrow. Both men reached the milestone 400 match wins this week and are currently at 401 wins each. Who will be the first to make it #402?

About time for Andy's first win on clay against a top 8 player I think, and nobody better to beat than Berdych.

I hated watching that match last year at Monte Carlo, where Berdych was just hitting through him. I hope Andy's defensive game is up to the job tomorrow, I think it's gonna be a gruelling one.

It's 2-0 on clay. Andy will have to play very smart tennis and cause errors on Berdych's part. It will be so unwise to have a slow smart against a player like Berdcyh. He'll be too quick to finish it. For that reason, Andy will need to serve really well. It will save him the day.

Already corrected, thanks though.

Well it looks like the odds in are Andy Murray (1.83) - Tomas Berdych (2.25)

Probably is worth a bet on Berdych at William Hill for those odds, actually a 99% arb at the moment so it's obviously worth betting somewhere :P
Those odds will shorten soon for sure.

I don't think so.  Murray is way too experienced now.

I'd stick pins in my eyes before I'd bet on Berdych.

I'm not even going to predict, I'm just going to watch and see what happens. If Andy does it I will then do a happy dance, just for the fun of it lol.

Go on Andy, beat him for me!

OK Berdych odds already shortened to 2.1 you have to be fast at those kind of odds, they pretty much layed it wrong I don't know what they were thinking.

They may both be aiming for 402 match wins but the big difference being Andy has a 76% win rate to Berdych's 64% Smile

I would like to think that he will have recovered from that rather unimpressive match against Simon and he motivates himself to take Berdych apart. Not easy. I shall be watching hoping for something special!
