History Boy

The kid who played with a nations historic failures in the sport on his shoulders for years. Overcoming them and setting his name in the history books for generations.

Nice to see you posting, Craig.

The only thing I can come up with right now is Wimbledon Wonder, but that sounds like a variety of flower or fruit!

Or a bag of crisps. Very Happy But I like it.
Can you still get Golden Wonder?

To me Andy should be thought in terms of the Boston Red Sox or any other sporting drought. The victory over the expectation and doubt is bigger than the individual achievement .

Yes, and in variety of flavours too!  I didn't realise though that the company was founded by a Scottish baker, or that it had gone into administration in 2006 but was bought by a company in N Ireland - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golden_Wonder

I quite like 'the spider' or 'spiderman' (someone suggested it a while back I think)

It suits his style of play in many ways.e.g. his varied shot making, and 'reeling players in' so they often think they have an advantage, but then they are caught out. Also in some of his wins, he is behind or in trouble for big parts of matches, but all along he is quietly taking their legs away and draining them - suddenly the opponent is  'caught' !!- USO final an outstanding example, I'm sure people can think of many others

He also 'spins' so many good shots, beautiful at times. Also 'spiderman' is a somewhat lower key personality than other superheroes, and that suits Andy too

The nick name has to be short and affectionate, that's why "Muzza" works so well.

Good posting!

Feel the same, although I prefer the spelling 'Muzzah'. Smile
