Would have been interesting to have been a fly on the wall during the post mortem with Mr L!

I'm not going to be harsh on him because he must be mentally destroyed.

He must feel angry with himself 2 and 1 is the worst loss I think he has ever suffered.
Also - to think you can beat anyone on any given day, would show a huge lack of respect for your opponent.  Today, Andy wasn't there, and Stan played well.  Just one of those things.

He certainly does not look well in the interview.

No wonder. He's just been horsed!! A bit of a reality check this result. Still hard to fathom how he can have been demolished so comprehensively.

I seriously doubt he is mentally destroyed.  Get away with the drama!  Very Happy

If he isn't mentally destroyed then he's Superman!

Why would he be mentally destroyed?  That's just crazy.  He lost 'a' match against a decent opponent.  It happens lots, not only to Andy, but to all the top players.

Well I did say I wasn't confident about this one. Almost glad I missed it now. Would've been seething.

Berdych got hammered as well. Odd day.

First match I've missed since Raonic in Tokyo actually. He always loses when I can't watch.

Come on Gangsta - lighten up.  This wasn't like losing yet another GS final (before he won the USO that is) but a R3 match on a surface he takes a while to get used to and in front of a crowd of hostile French cochons as well.

Anyway I blame it on you for giving me the duty of opening match threads. Very Happy

How can one player be the 2nd best in the world on two surfaces yet 22nd (random but you get what I mean) on the other? Even Sampras won a few clay titles.

Maybe just some bad karma.

It's a strange one.  But, Andy's never been predictable.  I guess that's what makes him fascinating.

I doubt very much he will be mentally destroyed.  Clay is not everyone's best surface.  McEnroe etc did not like it.  Lendl did not like grass.   I also believe that it is not Federer's favourite or best surface.
Lendl will not be treating him like his other coaches as that attitude does not work with him.. Lendl will probably just say lets move on.  Obviously they will discuss what went wrong but he klnows Andy is not at his best on clay.

I came on here thinking that everyone would have the same attitude as myself but am a little disappointed at some people's posts after this match today.  He has still done better than ever before at the time of the season and is 20-3 for the season so far over only 5 tournies.  Less than anyone else.  He will come back at
adrid and overtake Federer again.

I have just realised that he is only 10 points behind Federer.

Sampras wouldn't have won titles on clay in this era.
