I always thought the opening post of a match thread should include the day (and when the OOP is out, the time) of the match, mention of the opponent's previous result and a brief preview. Plus, of course, the H2H - at least a mention of it and their most recent matches. If nothing else, at least some sort of comment on the match or something of note.

Nowadays it's just one line about the obvious.

When I first joined the match thread usually wasn't created for a good few hours after the last match had finished.
That's the sensible and profession way to do it. It puts everyong in the picture, newcomers and regulars alike. Also good for when I come rushing in from work, on the last minute and dont have time to orientate myself about the opponent.

 I would appreciate a change of style. Whistle

Ditched the swim after tennis so I would make start of match, don't think I could have swam anyway that big polish coach certainly gives a good workout Wink  knackered!!
