Yea just seen - great.  Good for us and good for Andy I think as he's not played any evening matches whereas Rafa has.
Just seen little Monaco make paste of Fish in 1st set - may he keep it up.  I like Monaco and he's a friend of Andy's.

Ideal pictures in the H2H Bev. Also, I like Andy in the cap, for the looks & the smarts--it's hot & sunny out there!

Hope he gets Mohammed Lahyani, if he is there! Who was the Umpire for the Tsonga v Nadal Match?
I wish for that too Chris. Mohammed is our favorite. hug
But I wonder if the umpires dispute is over? Was it resolved? Many were missing at the AO.

Didnt know there was a dispute but it does explain the poor quality of umpireing this week.

Right, Andy has 2 hours to get this match over and done with before I meet friends for coffee and cake.

I just hope that Andy gets his fluid intake problem sorted out, but I've absolutely no doubt that he and Lendl will take all possible steps to make sure it doesn't happen again, although Mark Petchey has said that getting the balance of hydration right isn't an exact science and that mistakes can sometimes happen.

Thanks Bev.  A repeat of that match would be very nice, or that AO QF ...Smile

The lesson from that match is pretty obvious: wear a black shirt.

Apparently it was reported on the US's Tennis Channel last night that Nadal didn't turn up for practice yesterday afternoon ...

Well he has been complaining about a knee problem that he's had all tournament, although nobody knew about it until he suddenly felt he needed it massaged when 5-4 up against Nishikori, with Nishi about to serve to stay in the set. Whistle

Good luck Andy hope you feel super good tomorrow so you can come out playing terrific tennis. My wish for you is that when you break Rafa you consolidate that break by holding serve because I know you can do it!!

They've just shown a highly edited version of the Andy-Rafa match at MC last year while filling time on Sky. Had forgotten just how brilliant Andy was for much of that match.  Hope we get another like it tomorrow but with the right result this time.  I'm still sure Andy would have won had his painkillers not worn off on his elbow.
Oh....no doubt about it Ruthie!

Just watched the Tokyo highlights again and like you I'd forgotten how brilliant Andy can be.  Let's hope tonight's match has some of the same qualities and that both players are fully committed and on their game, if they are it'll be a corker!  Go Andy go yay

And Rafa is doing his reverse psychology bit trying to make himself the underdog: 'Playing Andy is always a pleasure. Playing against an exciting player like him pushes you to the limit on everything.  The negative thing is that I have to recover well. I have to improve my knee if I want to have any chance of winning. If not, it's going to be almost impossible'.
Hmm - much as I like Rafa methinks he's either trying to lull Andy into a false sense of security[which of course he won't] or he's getting his excuses in first.   The fact he didn't turn up for practice is surely significant as from what I understand it's completely out of character.

He always says this sort of thing - expect him to play brilliantly tonight. Rolling Eyes
