Monte Carlo R2: Murray vs Troicki
« on: April 15, 2012, 03:44 PM »
To be played at around 11:30am BST (12:30pm local time) Tuesday 17th April.
They are 2nd on Court Central after Llodra/Fognini who start at 9:30am BST (10:30am local time). Andy will also play the doubles with Jamie at around 4:30pm BST (5:30pm local time).
Fingers crossed there's no first round jitters that we often see and Andy hits the ground running. Troicki is ranked #27 in the world, having reached #12 back in June 2011. Can be a tricky customer on the clay but Andy has never lost to Troicki and came out on top in their last encounter; that memorable clash at Roland Garros last year where Andy came from two sets and 2-5 down in the 5th set to win despite an ankle injury sustained in the 2nd round.
Time to see how much, if at all Andy has improved on this surface under Lendl after his promising performances last season.

I hope Andy gets at least one dubs match in with Jamie before his singles match so he can get some match practice on clay. As I've said on another thread looks like a tricky draw to me. So hope all that work with Mr L will substitute for lack of match practice especially on clay.
Thanks tmh for sparing us the new look Andy in the h2h.

This is a tough one to start, especially as its best of three, minimising Andy's favoured buildup. Andy will have to stamp on Troicki hard from the off to come through, methinks. Don't think the no loss record counts for much here.

I'd have used a Troicki looking Andy photo in the H2H
but thanks for starting the thread MH.

Looks like no doubles match today for Andy/Jamie, so no warm up for Andy before playing Troicki!

If they keep to schedule, he should play doubles tomorrow, and Troicki on Weds.

I so hope so Elena, as he would be at a disadvantage again.

All the World Group Davis Cup matches were on clay (was that really only a week ago?), and some players have done Houston or Casablanca. Others have come through qualifiers, so most have had more match practice on clay - maybe just the top 3 who haven't? We'll just have to hope for the best.
Some must be tired though (Monaco!)
Looks like he won't be troubled by Donald Young - down 6-0 4-1 to Paul Henri Mathieu.

Just seen Andy and a few other players arriving for practice - poor Andy having to fight his way in. They need better security for all - Nole got gendarmes or military back up - didn't recognise the uniform. Oh yeah, I have coverage, just about to start with Verdasco match.

That will be Monaco's armed police force. Monte Carlo has the largest police force per capita and per square kilometre in the world.
