I know I'm paranoid. But am I paranoid enough?

“It’s something for me and the guys that I work with,” was all Murray would say afterwards. “I don’t really want to go into too much detail because I’ll end up getting asked about it every single day.”

There's a inside joke and then there's a inside joke.

WTF this thread???????????
Andy pointed one finger to the sky and it was interpreted as 1 match down and 6 to go.
Think that is the logical conclusion.
So it might have seemed, but today he not only pointed both index fingers to the sky but also wagged them about 5 times.

It could be an in-joke, but my hunch is that it's merely a silent Murray messaging system the code of which remains known only to himself and his team.  As I said earlier such things aren't all that unusual in families and close groups of friends or associates.

Unfortunately the media have now got the bit between their teeth and will no doubt continue to speculate until the cows come home just as the same as they, and we, did about his as yet undivulged back problem.  He's a man of many mysteries is our Andy, but, frustrating though it may be, I feel his privacy should be respected.

This has nothing to do with his privacy - the end game communication, as you put it, could be done privately. He chooses to do the gesture in front of the cameras and therefore I'm inclined to believe he wants the speculation. I'm not a fan on inside jokes that are repeated and not explained.

Well I suppose you could argue that, since he chooses to do it in full public view, then we have a right to know what it all means, but it does sound from what you've said that you're basically accusing him of attention-seeking, for whatever reason, in just the same way as some have suggested he's doing with regard to his back and other injuries, real or otherwise.

Just what benefit he would gain from all this though defeats me.

No I'm not a fan of inside jokes either but unfortunately they exist in any group of people and MW is no exception.  It's just something we have to learn to live with.
