Murray gets wildcard for Rotterdam!

Great news!  Andy needs as much match practice as he can get before IW.  Also there's his ranking to consider.  Being #6 won't be making him feel too happy.

I think we can also take it that his back is OK now, which is even better news. Smile

quite a coup for Richard K.  Get the feeling that even though Andy won't be top seed, he's seen by RK as top draw.
Well done getting the new link up so quickly Aileen!  What a young picture of Andy greets you when you click on it!

yay Andy's back. And hopefully will start to accrue some points.
Bye, bye No 6 wave

500 points would put him 15 points ahead of Ferrer at No. 5, but because he would have got 500 points by winning, and Del Potro therefore unable to defend his title, Andy could be No. 4.

let's not get ahead of ourselves though that is an enticing thought.

btw the title of this thread makes me laugh - Andy in a 'wildcart' - conjures up images of Andy wildly go-karting his way into the tournament

Are we sure as we were all still uncertain what could be replaced by a new 500 event. Certainly Davis Cup but zero penalties some thought lasted until drop dates? That would give him only 5200 points still behind Ferrer but Del Potro has to make Semis to be above Andy if the Scot did win.

I am waiting on an update to the live ATP rankings to see what they think the position is come Monday when they show current positions and possible points after first round and maximums possible.

Ferrer is now playing Buenos Aires replacing Nadal!  Perhaps he spotted Andy sneaking up on him?

I think Andy realised he has to play more 500's to get points, since he played none last year, he had 4 zero pointers.
Also it's certainly better that he plays a tournament before Acapulco rather than just going to Miami to do yet more training before then.
