I know some very normal people who support Salmond. Far from your typical Nationalist nutter stereotype and then there are some people like my Grandpa who I think were born nationalist! I'm sceptical nowadays (just in case anyone thinks I'm referring to myself) but at 18 I was more idealistic and less realistic.
Anyway back on topic. That's great that Andy is getting a hometown parade. Sadly I live in completely the wrong part of the country and have visitors coming. To everyone who goes, enjoy!

Your man 'Salmond' has already said he would ban BBC if Scotland did get independence. He's an egotistical maniac who has no interest other than his own. Sorry if I don't subscribe.

Let's keep this to the Dunblane visit and away from politics, folks. Well said Andrew. If anyone wants to discuss the Scottish Independence issue, then let them open a thread on the subject - and wait for the fur to start flying. So  Very pleased that Andy's apparently fit enough to go to Dunblane now after it was announced earlier that he wouldn't be going until the end of next week because he'd been "ordered" to rest by his advisers (the reason given for his missing the Glasgow parade). Fortunately Dunblane is in a good central location and I imagine the place will be stacked out with well-wishers. It's going to be very emotional for him though, and I think he says that in the BBC's article. I just hope he's up to coping with it all. |

Really pleased that Andy's going back to Dunblane- will be such a special moment. Glad he's got the time to properly celebrate this one compared the rush to Toronto after winning gold. He deserves it! |

That's a very good question, Joe. However, there are a lot of Nationalist nutters in Scotland who don't seem to understand the bigger picture - also many elderly folks see Salmond as 'doing things' for Scotland. I think he has a way of ingratiating himself as many Politicians do - However, I think he's transparent.
I think we should thank God for a transparent politician if that is what Alex Salmond is. I find him somewhat bombastic but he is the only politician I know who will put Scotland first and for that reason has my vote. Whoever is in power will try to hijack Andy but that guy is not for hijacking!!! I think he should do whatever he feels right for him and he must be sick to death of compulsory media events. |
