That said, I actually quite liked the quote that Djokovic apparently made a while ago, about him and Andy not being able to be close friends. It shows that Djokovic perceives him as a threat, which has to be good. I do appreciate the respect and warmth between them though, it shows they are human. It also shows that you can be civil and sociable with each other, have a laugh too, but still be competitive.
Interestingly tj I recall Andy said something v similar about Nole in his autobiography - that he couldn't be close friends with him because he saw that they would be rivals. I wonder if at that point he could envisage just what a rivalry it could turn out to be.

Yes, I remember something like that too. It does make you wonder, doesn't it?
I'm looking forward to watching their rivalry continue to play out. It's funny, it's the first rivalry that has me really hooked. Fed and Nadal was interesting, because they play so differently, but with Andy and Novak their styles are so similar that matches are quite, what's the word, attritional. I can only see that continuing.

I love that too. The trouble is, I don't know about anyone else, but I now can't find that bit after the match anywhere on the net. Andy's interview with Sue Barker is on Youtube I think, but the one with Tim isn't, and neither is the one with John McEnroe. It's a shame, because they aren't on the DVD of the match.

Did Andy do an interview with Tim after the match?I watched it on BBC,and I remember watching the hug,but I don't remember an interview with Tim afterwards, just with Sue Barker...I remember there being a bit shown with John Mac congratulating him, which I haven't been able to find, but at the end of Prodigy's version of the final on youtube there is an interview with John, which I hadn't seen because it was for NBC...

No, what I meant was that Tim did an interview with Sue Barker. My apologies if I wasn't clear. I've got a bad cold and feel rotten lol.
