RC R2: Murray vs Anderson
« on: August 09, 2011, 01:24 AM »
Tuesday 9th not before 7 pm BST
Murray and Anderson have met only once, in R1 of the 2010 AO, when Murray won 6-1, 6-1, 6-2.
Can't find much to say about this South African player except that he's 6'8", has a big serve and won his maiden ATP Tour title at the S.A. Open in February of this year, defeating Somdev Devvarman 4–6, 6–3, 6–2, thereby achieving a career high ranking of No.33.
In Montreal he beat Pablo Andujar 6-4, 6-4, firing down 11 aces and dropping serve only once.
On the face of it he shouldn't present Murray with any real problems, but he has been described as one of the most improved players of 2011 and Murray, as usual, isn't under-rating him.
Weather conditions seem fairly tolerable. Sunshine expected in afternoon with a max temp of 27C. Humidity 59%.

This match is on at 6am for me, so I need to be ready before it starts, so that I can watch before going to work
So wrap it up quickly Andy!

Come on Andy - lay down your marker and statement of intent for the next few weeks ahead. Hope he can retain his title. Tricky start for him but have to say he is looking ultra lean and confident - it appears as if something has just clicked for him, Love the Montreal touranment as the matches are on at such a civilised time !!!! No cramming in hours at work to take flexi time to be home on time - brill. Really missed the tennis and Andy of course. Come on the Muzza......

Could be a tricky match as it will be Andy's first for a few weeks and Anderson has a match under his belt and appears to have been playing throughout July plus will be confident if he bears the label of most improved player. That said Andy usually deals well with these tall big servers. Just hoping all the positive vibes Andy is giving off translate into a smooth performance on court. And great viewing time for us!

Thanks both Aileen and Bev! Andy.....If you're reading this, just keep the cool head as you have all year. I don't know where you've locked up Mr.Tragic as he hasn't made an appearance for some time now, [to our great delight], but, wherever he is,.......time to throw away the key! If you miss an important point, remember this is allowed! Don't carry it through to the next game with you! Leave it where it belongs.......in the trash! After all Andy, if you never went for the big shots, you'd never miss any! We'll all be cheering for you tonight and sending you 'The Force'! Good luck Mr. Magic! We know you'll do us proud!

Should be kind of a "return training". Considering Andy's one of the best returners in the game, doubt Anderson will be a threat.

Just read an article on-line about how Andy has changed his diet and is using "colour coding" - he reported it has made a vast difference and imporved the quality iof his sleep and his ability to recover from matches - said he started doing it just before Queens - itneresting - seems like he is determined to put everything in place to get that first GS. Come on Andy begin tonight by having a quick and easy first round.

Well that explains a lot - why he is looking so much better and brighter and why in the past he sometimes seemed lethargic on court. I'm a great believer in the importance of diet so am absolutely delighted to read this. Many thanks to MM and MP for drawing to our attention. [for a moment I thought the colour coding referred to his kit in light of our recent exchanges about that!]

Delighted to see Andy's learnt something from Djoko's success, and it just goes to show just how much what we eat affects us mentally and physically. I'm waiting the results of a coeliac test myself (my GP's a big tennis fan
)

I'm trying, but not succeeding! It's been a long tennis drought. He's bound to be match rusty, as are Djoko, Nadal and Fed, whilst Anderson has been playing regularly and has one match under his belt already here. At least Andy has played him and is bound to have watched him - unlike the dreaded Qualifiers. This could be tricky, but I'm hopeful Andy can have it done and dusted in 2.

I wondered if he might talk things over with Novak, they're friends I know - in fact there aren't too many people on the tour Andy doesn't get along with - which speaks volumes. Andy is obviously learning about changing/adapting his diet, even if he may not need to be glucan-free, changes could still help him. Good Luck Andy.
