Surbiton challenger May 2004 (grass) 1st round 2-3 retired

Not much to be learned from that!

This is what the San Jose website had to say about Andy:

"Britain’s Andrew Murray was rock-solid in his 6-2, 6-2 pounding of American Mardy Fish.  Calling it by far his best match of ’06, Murray noted that, “This year is going to be more difficult than last year.  People know me, it’s much tougher as you get higher up the rankings.  But if I play like I did tonight, I think things will go in the right direction.”  Murray has a strength rarely seen in pro tennis: the ability to skillfully change paces. "

Pretty good things I'd say.  goodjob

this is mildly insane... how did wang pull of an upset like that? he is now 16-17 and has been a pro since '01 i think. this looks like it could be easy for andy

He may not have been favourite in the match agianst Blake but does anyone rememebr the match Wang had vs Roddick inthe forst round of Wimbledon last year? He may have lost in 3 sets but gave Roddick some anxious moments and it was pretty close.

Wang has a reputation on the tour for being a tough customer who keeps a low profile. He ceratinly has talent and has great mental strength.

Just a couple of pointers- Wang keps his returns low and forces apponents to volley up and toyaround from the baseline.

does anyone know how wang is at the net? if anyone saw andy's rally with Thomas Johansen at wimbledon im sure andy could do the same and make wang very uncomfortable. i never saw wang play before so maybe thats throwing me off. im just surprised he took blake out in straights and with such an easy first set.
