Great Britain captain Jeremy Bates has chosen to rest Greg Rusedski for the opening singles of the Davis Cup World Group play-off against Switzerland.
Alan Mackin will open up against Roger Federer on Friday, with Andy Murray facing Stanislas Wawrinka.

What a disappointment, I can see why Jeremy is doing it but I was really looking forward to Andy and Roger playing on Friday, I even took the day off work.  The Davis Cup site has Andy down to play Roger on the Sunday but I understand this is one that can be changed, let's hope not.

I think everyone was hoping Bates would pit Murray against Federer, but i suppose for the sake of an overall win putting Murray against Federer might lose them the tie.

Well seems that the official davis cup website has Murray playing against Federer in the first singles match after the doubles match, god i hope this is right.

Roger Federer (SUI) v Alan Mackin (GBR)
Stanislas Wawrinka (SUI) v Andrew Murray (GBR)
Yves Allegro/Roger Federer (SUI) v Andrew Murray/Greg Rusedski (GBR)
Roger Federer (SUI) v Andrew Murray (GBR)
Stanislas Wawrinka (SUI) v Alan Mackin (GBR)

dont know if this could change depending on results in the first 3 matches lets hope it does happen

If the tie is 2-2 then I think that Greg would come in for Mackin and beat Warwinka

If the score is 2-2 after the fourth rubber, Bates has to play Andy against Federer. He's the only one with a chance. It sensible to play Rudeski against Wawrinka, as Greg has beaten him not so long ago. My feeling is that the doubles is the important rubber in this tie and it's imperative that GB wins that.

Mackin v Federer - Federer win

Wawrinka v Murray - Murray win

Doubles - ?

Wawrinka v Rudeski - Rusedski win

Federer v Murray - Federer win
