Murray's warrior spirit fuelled by the uncompromising laws of Lendl - article by Mike Dickson 'Andy is such a quick learner, I knew he was a hard worker but as a learner he's surprised me a bit. 'It used to take me 18 months to pick some things up. He's far quicker than me but then he has more talent than I ever had. Look at his hands, he has wonderful hands, look at the angles he creates. The strings they use these days help, but I could never do that.' Lendl also says "He's a very polite young man, he's so polite to everybody, people who just come up to him. He's a really good guy.' Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/tennis/article-2122395/Andy-Murrays-warrior-spirit-fuelled-laws-Lendl.html#ixzz1qaTwWHPMLovely article. Thanks Elena. I particularly like the bit where he points out that Andy "is out there to do one thing, and that is to get a win. He is not out there to show what a great sense of humour he has got." Exactly - which is why I get so annoyed with those who criticise Andy for being dour-looking on court. Why pick on him? We don't, for example, see Djokovic, Nadal and Federer smiling and laughing on court, so why should Andy be the exception? So it seems we could be in for a feast of nail-biting, nerve-shredding long rallies here - and that in the hottest part of the day. I must admit the fighting talk from Djokovic has got me a little worried. He's already had two scares and definitely won't be looking to have another one. Andy may be the fresher of the two but I do fear his lack of playing time could well count against him.

On the other hand, Nole doesn't like the heat Hasn't he played all his matches at night?

I saw that. Can't believe Andy's for such an idea really. Curbing serve speeds? What an outrage!

01 April 2012 Sort of kills any serious thought there doesn't it. Fun idea though. Would be like playing top spin (where even on expert difficulty Roddick struggles to serve higher than 100mph!)

^^ Thought it was really well put together though - and we know Andy is master of the deadpan. Maybe Nigel should file it somewhere for future reference as a benchmark.....

Touch the sky - and touch it he did.

On the other hand, Nole doesn't like the heat Hasn't he played all his matches at night? Certainly most of them, if not all. And Andy will be much more used to these conditions here anyway. Just hope that is enough to counteract what is likely to be some match-rustiness at the start, which Nole will of course take advantage of. Much as I would prefer it not to be a long nail-biting affair it may well be that the longer it goes, the more it goes in Andy's favour both because of conditions and because it gives him more of a chance to play himself in.

Keep saying, if his first serve is firing Andy will win. But agree Ruthie he may well lose the first set. Nole wiped the floor with his opponents in the first set of last two matches. But we will not lose heart if that happens. Because Nole could not keep the pace up and at the AO Andy didn't lose heart either

Just jesting. Strangely more confident about this one than in Dubai, where it was more hope than expectation. Andy's got such a great record in finals. Come on Andy.
