Courage doesn't always roar - but wins Wimbledon

The doubters are still going to doubt, unfortunately.

That's exactly right. There are people who want to find fault with anything Andy does. You know what I mean, a win isn't a win unless it's against Djokovic, Federer or Nadal. Even then he's only won because they are injured, tired or just didn't feel like it, or they felt sorry for him, so they gave him a win. It's all ridiculous.

There are people who won't get that Andy has a chronic back problem which is aggravated by certain conditions, especially playing on clay. Maybe they don't get it because they don't understand why clay presents difficulties. Maybe they are just a bit thick.

I've given up worrying about the doubters. Andy has an injury he is doing his best to deal with. That's good enough for me.

Teejay - even though I don't post very often, I do read specific thread on this website quite regularly and I just wanted to say thank you for all of your insightful, positive and often funny contributions. I agree with your comments 99.9% of the time and find them really helpful in terms of expressing exactly what I was thinking and/or feeling. So thank you!

Bless you Simone, that's very kind. I need all the morale boosts I can get at the moment. Saw my doctor today. She's referring me back to the ear, nose and throat specialist about my voice. It looks like it will be back to speech therapy. Not ideal, but a start.

Thanks again Simone.

Hope she doesn't recommend you stop shouting (or whispering)at the tv - there's a lot of telly bashing to be done in next few weeks! Let your fingers do the talking on here!

Todays Times Yannick Noah says that the Spanish players take "Magic Portions" he is going to present the cup if a French player wins at RG. He will not however if a Spanish player wins wonder why? So it is not only during this period that there are suspicions about the Spanish Tennis Players. Not sure how long ago that Noah won at RG. Whistle Whistle

#intrigued! Noah won 30 years ago (today).

I suspect he's known he was going to be fit for a while, but didn't want to say too early in-case his injury that forced him out of Roland Garros was put into question.
From what Andy said, I think Queens really was going to be a doubt, and my feeling is that late yesterday he was finally given the all-clear to play, probably from one or more of the specialists he saw, and he obviously couldn't wait to announce it to the world at large.

I'm so sorry you're still having problems with your voice TJ.  That must be extremely frustrating.  I know because I once had laryngitis and could barely whisper for a week - something my friends told me was wonderful! lol  That was bad enough though, so I hope you get some satisfaction from the ENT specialist.

I've cornered the market in very loud whispering over the last 8 weeks lol. I'm getting pretty good at it, loads of practice over the last few years.

If the Olympics is anything to go by I will be a wreck without my voice during Wimbledon. I completely freaked during the Olympic final, without my voice there was no channel for the nerves. Instead I focused on Andy's FSP, to the point where my brain didn't quite absorb the fact that he was winning, and not just winning, but wiping the floor with that Swiss bloke lol.

Thank God for MW. Over the next few weeks it will be all that stands between me and a padded cell!

Thanks Aileen. I sort of already know what the specialist will say. I've seen one about the throat before. I just hope they might be able to give me some clue as to why I am so prone to laryngitis in the first place, but I won't hold my breath.

Either way, a referral to speech therapy will be good. It worked a treat last time, although I did work extremely hard to get the voice back too.

Oh, I've heard all sorts of 'jokes'. Most I laugh off. The only one that really gets me is when I speak to people and they go 'Have you got a bad throat then?' Seriously, why do people state the patently obvious lol.

Absolutely agree with Simone TJ.  Your posts usually say exactly what I'm thinking so there's no need for me to post.  Really hope that you have a positive outcome from your speech therapy. Good luck!

It could be an omen I suppose, I lose my voice again and Andy wins Wimbles lol. I think you could call that going beyond the call of duty lol.

Oh I think if Andy can get to the Wimbles final again we might all need that padded cell!

Bless you all for your kind thoughts and support. I'm finding life challenging at the moment. Not having a voice is tough for someone like me. You've all seen me post, you know I never shut up, so not being able to express myself with my voice is not easy. Being able to come on here and be distracted for a while really helps me, and my ego loves all the compliments lol.

No probs at all - life seems so unfair sometimes when certain individuals seem to get a disproportionate run of bad luck and others seem to sail through life and for the life of me I will never really understand why that happens. I really hope that you see some meaningful improvements as a result of your GP and speech path (or other specialist) appointments should it/they eventuate.

On the plus side, whilst your voice is struggling your mind is in tip top shape! Reading your posts brings me much joy and often times pause for reflection. I shall look forward to your comments throughout Wimbledon when I can't watch so much due to the sh*tty time difference and an even sh*ttier exam period I have coming up.
