Mr Harman sounds almost like the media's version of Booger. Yes he is trying to put a perspective on things from his point of view and to try and fend off unrealistic expectations, which is fair enough, especially as Andy himself is playing expectations down, and which is something that I totally agree with, but he does seem determined to pick out the negative.
I couldn't disagree more. I think they are polar opposites.
For a start, I think managing people's expectations is a very positive thing to do. He's pointing out that it's to be expected that Andy won't rush back to full fitness.
It's the very opposite of those who think anything short of an instantaneous return to full fitness and impervious form is something to wail about, and one of the signs of the impending tennis apocalypse.
He's clearly a big fan of Andy's, but if you follow him the rest of the time, he's a big fan of many tennis players and tennis in general, and manages to gush when not talking about Andy. I don't think he shows Andy any special favouritism, but I do love that he takes the mickey out of that perception and sometimes plays up to it. In fact, I think he enjoys trolling the people who are upset at the thought of any journalist saying nice things about Andy.
As for the identity of PF - I have a few on my short-list, but I'm against trying to find out who he really is. It would spoil the fun if he were outed, and if he thought people were onto him, he might give up, or at least cut back. We can't be having that!
