If I was ranked in the WTA top 20 I'd be pretty happy!  Look out Kimiko Date!

I wonder what my serve speed would have been, given that it was pretty fast, in my #humble opinion!  Would using an old-fashioned wooden racquet have made much difference though, i.e. slowed it down?

Would have made it drastically slow.

Probably still faster than mine  Embarassed  Had plenty fun in my childhood playing in the back garden with a wooden racquet and a bit of rope strung across the grass for a net. Thought I was very exotic when I got a metal racquet in my teens. Love my new Head racquet I got for Christmas - really light. Hoping it will help propel me up the WTA serve rankings  :p

Oh well, at least it was reasonably 'fast' for that particular era, although not exactly Wimbledon standard!

I hate slow tennis, one reason why I cannot stand Radwanska.

Indeed, but we had nothing to compare ourselves with so were content with what we had.  I bet you'd  think even Rod Laver was slow and boring compared to today's top players, yet we thought he was wonderful (which he was), and Perry was no doubt even slower, which is the reason I don't go along with this GOAT theory.

Sharapova's racquet and Berdych's.

So I have discovered. Picked it cos I liked the feel of it - tried out a few (including Andy's) but they didnt quite click. Not quite playing like Sharapova or the birdman - yet  :p

Well that was never a problem for me because the choice was very limited - Dunlop vs Slazenger basically. lol

I went to the PWP shop in Partick - Dumbarton Road just beside Crow Road. They didn't have a massive selection but it gave me a chance to feel a few different ones and get an idea of weight, head size. I think they let you trial them if you want. Once I had narrowed it down to a few I told my parents which ones I liked - they were buying it for me - and they picked one to buy. It came in a huge box with a label saying please post thru letter  box if possible  confused lmao
