Oh well thats good for him.  I would have thought after deciding not to play New Haven that he would have flown home almost as soon as so they have longer time together, and thinking of jet lag of course.  Coming home for a few days then flying back must be a killer.  Although it doesn't say when he flew home so he could have gone home earlier.

I reckon it's 60/40 he will play but I can't see him getting beyond the 3rd round.

I cant see him flying 12,000 miles in a fortnight.

Crying or Very sad Just waiting for notice of his withdrawal.

I've done it. More than once.

He's probably done that much many a time. Didn't he fly to the aussie or dubai from the US via London? That would have been  nearly that distance in a few days

Exactly. He's home for nearly a week. I flew to Washington via Paris for 6 days. it's not that big a deal...

Well maybe it is if you are contemplating playing in a hot, humid Grand Slam.

We could probablyall travel 12,000 miles in a fortnight, but it's hardly the way to prepare for a major tournament, is it? Especially when, physically, he is functioning at about 30% of his potential.

Sorry, I dont buy it. I cant see him playing.

But I'd be happy to be wrong if he doesn't play as ineffectually as he did against his last opponent. It's pretty obvious the wrist is far from alright, so write off the rest of the season and get 100%.

Smile Just my opinion. I am sure Andy will do what he thinks is right. Still a bit worried about the mental damage thatt his injury has inflicted, though. This is what seperates the men from the boys. A real test of character.

USOpen draw released
The USOpen draw is out, and British No. 1 Andy Murray is to face a qualifier in the first round, should he decide to play, as speculation surrounding his wrist injury continues to mount.

His potential path through the rounds at Flushing Meadows include encounters with the 4th seeded Russian, Nikolay Davydenko, and 6th seeded home favourite, James Blake. Murray also appears in the same half as World No. 1 and defending Champion Roger Federer. The Swiss will be looking for his 12th Grand Slam and 51st title in all.

Murray flew back to the US today to begin his final preparations for the year's last Grand Slam and a final hope to salvage his season.

Anna Fitzpatrick gives us the 'aspiring player' view on Andy Murray in her column (as an aside rather than the main topic):

I certainly appreciated the privilege of being able to train where everything you need as a player is available for you to improve.

I try to learn by observing the best players in the world and noticed how Andy Murray dealt with his training during his injury.

Andy would be in the gym at Roehampton before almost anyone else had woken up, then he would disappear most days rather than socialising with other players, and then he would be back in the gym again at night when everyone else was going to bed.

I respect that and because everyone at the MCTA, especially the coaches and trainers, are so ambitious, they help fuel my desire to do the work to keep improving. I know I still have a long way to go.
