Well, dual nationality would be correct. Not sure why he decided to become an American citizen.

Courage isn't absence of fear but mastery of it.

"The Scot who conquered America" - unfortunately my laptop's messing me about and won't play it.
IS ANYBODY WATCHING FRIDAY NIGHT WITH JOHNATHAN ROSS??
Can't stand the pompous overpaid pillock.  Still, his interview with Andy before Wimbledon last year was well worth watching.  Could still be on YouTube somewhere ...

I think that's a touch harsh, I don't think he's pompous... I think he certainly does handle interview situations well.

And I just checked - it's still on YouTube.

Have to admit that Ross did a good job of getting Andy to come out of his shell, but, sorry, I still can't stand the man.

"... I was in one of the suites, and I run out and just start yelling above the crowd, ‘I love you Andy Murray.’ But he couldn’t hear me. So his agent came up to me and said, ‘Do you want to come down and say hello?’ ... roflmao

This was the only up-to-date article I could find -  http://www.goroger.net/article/2010/miamiherald100323.html - but it seems to suggest that Roger is very far from being down and out, and what he says reiterates what Tim Henman said about how he felt after his first child was born - that you actually feel stronger and more motivated because you have somebody else to fight for (not that any benefits were very obvious - sorry Tim).

But Federer is a different animal.  He wants his kids to watch him playing, and presumably winning GSs, not to mention a possible gold medal in 2012.  As he's only 28, I think we have to accept that, barring serious injury (his back problem could get worse), he's going to be around for a long time yet.  Sampras and Agassi both won GSs in their 30s.

Basically Roger has nothing to lose, and that's what gives him the biggest advantage, and why Andy Murray just simply HAS to find a way of beating him, physically as well as psychologically.  That's why, after the AO, we want the two to face each other, sooner rather than later, in the QFs or SFs of tournaments other than GSs, rather than in the finals.  However, we know Federer has one major flaw (apart from his super-ego).  He let slip after the AO that he was worried that the final would go to 5 sets - and the 5th of the USO final supports that - because he doubted his stamina would hold.  Is he no longer capable of sustaining the level of performance we last saw in the 2009 Wimbledon marathon?

Andy Murray in Oz — Too Much Pressure

Quote
So my advice to you, Murray, is relax. You’ve won a bunch of titles already, plenty of big ones. At the slams, play tennis. Don’t create strategies for a tournament, create strategies for each opponent. Like Federer said, you’re too talented not to win a slam one day. Just relax and play tennis.

Good advice, I'd say ................

Andy Murray in Oz — Too Much Pressure

Good advice, I'd say ................

Sure you can say he’s got the weight of a nation on him, but I think he’s added too much pressure on himself.

During Federer’s post-match presser, talking about Murray, he said, “ Well, I just think he’s ‑‑ I mean, he’s a wonderful mover, tactician, great backhand. He has got everything you need to beat the best and to win big tournaments. You know, sometimes it just doesn’t happen when you want. Sometimes it all of a sudden happens without you knowing that it did.

That too.  Strikes me Andy may have become a bit obsessed with winning a GS.  In a pre-IW interview he said he was learning to "switch off" off-court and become less obsessed with tennis.  Fine - just so long as remembers to switch on again before his matches.
