Found this article this morning - sorry unable to link it for some reason - worth a read - John Lloyd arrogant and nasty !!!!
VERO BEACH — Given their shared tennis burden, John Lloyd and Andy Murray ought to have one of those special, cross-generational relationships often spawned by sports.

They don't.

"Our relationship," Lloyd was saying Tuesday night at the Grand Harbor clubhouse, where he was the guest speaker at the Indian River Tennis Foundation's kickoff party, "is slightly strained."

  etc etc

The article is at http://www.tcpalm.com/news/2012/feb/22/lloyd-reflects-on-tennis-different-eras/

It monstrous that Lloyd should go to Florida, run Murray down and  hoodwink his audience into believing that because he was a number one British player he can be compared with Andy. The British number one playwright coming from Stratford was Shakespeare. Who was the number one from that town before him?

And, as someone posted somewhere the other day, John Lloyd is now an estate agent. It would be lovely if he and his brother could keep quiet about tennis. Andrew Castle too.

Steve Tignor has created a Fan Club, a series of conversations he is hoping to be having with fans of different players.

http://blogs.tennis.com/thewrap/2012/02/fan-club-rafael-nadal.html

Don't be expecting a feature on Andy as the following is included in his desrciption of the Fan Club.

(Note: If you happen to be a major fan of a somewhat obscure player—in other words, anyone outside of the Top 3 men—send me an email. Maybe we can chat here.)

(Are there hardcore Andy Murray fans? Perhaps he buries his vulnerability too deeply beneath the rage?)
----------------------

I can't say I've ever thought of Andy as an 'obscure' player.
I'm questioning my opinion on Tignor. I used to think he was great. But I'm propping my eyes open with matchsticks reading 'High Strung', and now this bizarre situation.
Agree with this. Can anybody, even a Rafa fan, read this stuff? I'm quite happy if Andy is off  his radar.

Courage isn't absence of fear but mastery of it.

Got the message Nigel?  you started it, (smiley face...or something....)
It's all Nigel's fault for raking up something Clydey said days ago! naughty

If you want to use smileys Elena, then click on "Advanced" below the quick reply box and that'll take you into the much bigger main reply box, which is also useful for typing out longer posts.

As for other threads, the best thing to do is to keep an eye on the "Recent discussions" box in the top RH corner of the main web page.

Hope that helps. Smile

Thanks Aileen. I'll give the smileys a go one of these days. I spend quite enough time already on the tennis threads, without getting drawn into political or other stuff!

Lloyd had to carry his own bag etc at the majors simply because he was a nobody, just as they do today. Of course he did not have an entourage and a top coach, he could not afford one! He may have been GB number 1, but he peeked at number 21 in the World for ONE week (23.07.1978). Most of his peek was just inside the top 50! He won only ONE tournement in singles, and two in doubles during his career. So he has nothing in common with Andy
Err ... In fairness to Lloyd he did win 3 Slams playing mixed doubles with Australia's Wendy Turnbull - the French Open in 1982, and Wimbledon in 1983 & 1984, as well as them being runners-up at Wimbledon in 1982.

I'd definitely avoid political discussions on here like the plague!  Perhaps though once you've been a member for a while, and got more used to the forum, you might find some of the less contentious non-tennis threads of interest.

Does anyone on here ever visit tennis.com?

I've never liked Tignor - he's a self-opinionated git, and the fact that he considers all players outside the top 3 as being obscure speaks for itself.  Apart from being an insult to Andy, the rankings are littered with players, some of them former No.1s, who are now past their glory days but whose names still trip easily off the tongue.

Thanks for the link to the interview with Lloyd Colin.  Well the pig didn't fly past my window.  Talk about damning with faint praise and as you say implying that he is somehow Andy's equal.  The whole thing is a colossal cheek and just reflects Lloyd's ego I'd say.

I boo'd him when he was annouced at Breahead (on Friday). I saw him then turn around in my direction. I think he was slighly shocked!

How dare you.

Thanks for that. Great news about Andy & Lendl.  Also answers the question I asked on another thread re when is Andy playing next.  I'd thought Dubai next week was scheduled but had not seen anything about it on MW lately.

So it would seem.  Long may it continue.
Btw the rest of the article is very interesting too. Smile

That's because nobody's bothered to update the tournament info, which should ideally be done immediately after the previous tournament has finished.  I'd do it but don't know how.  Anyway if MW fails, you can always check up on these things on Andy's official website!

I cannot access Andy's official website

www.andymurray.com is unavailable or may not exist

Is it just me, or has something changed?

Yeah, it's down.

It just so happens that I receive alerts from my domain registrar about andymurray.com back from the days when I was interested in buying it.

We have noted that the following changes occurred between 22-Feb-2012 and 23-Feb-2012:
The domain expiration date has been changed:
   OLD: 24-Jan-2013
   NEW: 24-Jan-2012

The domain status has been changed:
   OLD: ok
   NEW: redemptionperiod

for the following name(s):
ANDYMURRAY.COM

Two things of interest:

1) The new expiration date is older than the previous one which is extremely odd. You should always have a new expiration date that is ahead of time.
2) The mention of 'redemptionperiod'. That's the period time that is automatically given to the owner of the domain after it expires to allow them to buy it back before it goes on the market.

Conclusion: They either forgot to renew or there was a very strange mistake in the renewal process. They will now buy it back before it's allowed to enter the market for the likes of you and me.
