Courage isn't absence of fear but mastery of it.

Fascinating. No wonder Fed was impressed by his talent, just as I was when I first saw him play and Queens and then Wimbledon the same year.

Trouble is Ruthie that there's just such a massive amount of stuff around during the Fringe (3,000 different acts, to be exact) it isn't surprising this got overlooked. Also I see the date on the article is April 2012, so exactly in which Fringe did this play appear? My guess would be 2010 or 2011. Doesn't sound quite my cup of tea, but it's interesting, if a little bizarre, that they used Fed vs Andy as an analogy for the war in Afghanistan - that is, if my understanding of the play is correct.
Sorry only just spotted this Aileen. The ad in LRB was this summer so it was this summer's fringe though it has appeared in US at an earlier date I think. Difficult to judge it without seeing (or reading) it but I found it intriguing that someone should have used Andy vs Smugfed as a 'subject' of a play in this way.
The clip posted by chl is v interesting. I know that early in his career Andy said to smugfed that it was privilege to play against him so perhaps that's what he said at the end? Given Andy showed smugfed so much respect I've always found it strange that the latter seems to dislike him.

But Ruthie, Andy has always praised Rafa to the skies and openly said Rafa is his favourite player to watch.
Think some of it stems from this.

It could also be that, after that first meeting, Andy started to beat Fed fairly regularly!

This is what was in my International Express this week and yes, part was in colour and part was in b & w and sorry for those of you that can't read it very well - it's very hard cutting and pasting and shrinking on my old version of paint

Thanks Bev.
- I didn't know he almost missed the Young Sports Personality oty 2004 by getting locked in the hotel bathroom. (Adorable dork.)
- Or that Simon
Cowell put on a GBP25,000 bet for Andy to lose Wimbles final. (Pissy Nob.)
- Or that Andy considered retiring from tennis in 2010 after playing in the Cincinnatti heat.
