It's a big and growing market; Asia....

Saw on the weibo website (translated with google translate) of Andy, (contentlooks a lot like facebook, but the post can't be read wirtout being a member!) that Andy has 300.000 Chinese fans over there...

Yes, you can't deny it's a large and potentially very lucrative market. And I hope that Andy's involvement with Bhupathi can be managed successfully.

But, like others, I can't quite see how an IPL style tournament fits in to his training and focus on the Slams and reaching no.1; keeping a check on the length of his schedule; Lendl not liking travelling etc.

Though I can see how the lucrative rewards must appeal greatly to eg renovating Cromlix Houses and Restaurant -  a project which surely has Judy's influential imprint all over it.
Just my view.

Ok, one more doubt - How is this tennis tournament gonna be similar to the IPL?

What is IPL style?

This comes from an article which first appeared in The Times. Much seems to be speculation about tennis as yet:  http://www.sportbusiness.com/news/188829/tennis-linked-to-new-twenty20-style-league

The Guardian article is very unfair to Andy. How on earth do people expect Andy to recover enough to fly to Britain suffer jet lag and play on Friday. Need their heads seen to. He has said he will play in September DC.
As to the IPL style tennis we need to wait and see what is going to happen. Andy will only do what is right for him and meets with Lendl's approval.

Now GB (great result!) and the Netherlands  (5-0!) went through...who can tell me if there is a chance they'll meet? I didn't find out on the website of the Davis Cup...

I think they'll both be unseeded, so won't meet. Same with Poland, who also won today.

The likely seeded teams are:

Austria, Brazil, Croatia, Germany, Israel, Spain, Switzerland and either Australia or Belgium.

The unseeded teams are:

Colombia, Ecuador, Great Britain, Holland, Japan, Poland, Ukraine and Australia/Belgium.

as I said on the clay season thread, I think this is an unpleasant, negative piece, which is typical of bleacher on Andy

Neil Harman's latest offerings from The Times-

Andy Murray adds to the buzz after Great Britain’s Davis Cup victory over Russia http://t.co/vgBxCa5sdh

"The messages arrived at almost every change of ends, little notes of support, inspirational words and impulses as Andy Murray watched the Davis Cup tie that he wasn’t able to play in become one that prepared the way for a sparkling return later in the year.
The phone of Leon Smith, the Great Britain captain, was buzzing constantly on the third day of the 3-2 victory over Russia in Coventry that secured the nation a place in tomorrow’s draw for a World Group play-off for which Murray has promised he will be available.

“The main theme was how proud Andy was of the boys, the way they were playing and the job they were doing,” Smith said. “You could see how pumped the team were to know that he was following the whole thing from America and what they were doing meant a great deal to him.”

What matters between now and the next tie in September – where there is potential for visits from Switzerland and Australia or travels to Spain or Croatia – is that every member of the squad raises their game, most especially the two players, James Ward and Dan Evans, whose singles victories on Sunday caused such an historic furore.
As Evans pointed out, he will be attempting to qualify for a tournament in Munich next week when Evgeny Donskoy, the Russian he thrashed in straight sets to complete the unlikeliest of British tennis successes, is in the field with Murray, Rafael Nadal et al at next week’s Monte Carlo Rolex Masters.

For Smith, this was his finest hour as captain, four years after he became the LTA’s head of men’s tennis to minimal fanfare. “Most people doubted the appointment but I’ve enjoyed the research side of the game and developing my own skills,” he said. “You end up studying the game a lot more and I had Judy Murray mentoring me for many years which has been brilliant. I’ve still got a long way to go to develop the job further and now it’s about these players building on what they accomplished this week.”

Telegraph article with Andy's spokesman confirming he will definitely take part in September world group play off tie.

http://aggbot.com/Sport-News/article/19338210

In my opinion, the most interesting sentence in the article is the following:

"His spokesman insisted plans for Murray to take part in a potentially lucrative IPL-style tennis tournament at the end of the season would not stop him taking part in the Davis Cup tie."

Pretty much confirms Andy's participation in IPL style tennis right??
