As if we didn't already know Castle was an utter clown:

Apology to David Lloyd

On Wednesday, 12 June during a studio discussion on BBC Two, after rain interrupted play at the Aegon Tennis Championships at The Queen's Club, the BBC's commentator Andrew Castle suggested there were issues in the personal life of David Lloyd which made him unsuitable to be considered for the role of CEO of the Lawn Tennis Association.

Mr Castle would wish to make clear that his comments were without foundation and apologises to Mr Lloyd for any embarrassment or distress caused.

Castle thinks he's funny. He always tries to make a witty remark when working with Lloyd.

He made a strange remark when Andy was a set down in the final at Queen's ....about Andy being his favourite player!......  I didn’t quite catch it at the time but thought ‘wow’ that’s a change, because he always used to be so negative about Andy.

I heard the discussion re the LTA job. Neil Harman said he thought David Lloyd would be good, Andrew Castle said he didn't think this was the right time in DL's life. I don't think he said why, or mentioned personal problems, but I could be wrong.

I was a bit surprised that AC was quite so adamant, but as I always think of David Lloyd as the guy who told Andy he needed to smarten up if he wanted to progress, (and Andy's response: "He's entitled to whatever his opinion is, but I think he should stick to what he does best and that's building leisure clubs"), so I'm happy to go with Castle's opinion on this!

I was watching when Andrew Castle made the remark about David Lloyd. I wondered if it might bite him on the rear end. It appears to have done.

The thing is, Castle clearly thinks he's clever, but what his remark did was make him look like a know-all on the one hand, and a pillock on the other.

Castle should never have mentioned David Lloyd's personal life, even though he did not say what the apparent issue was supposed to be, without some sort of proof of his facts.

Another thing about Castle, all through the rally against cancer he was walking around near the players boxes looking like he owned the place. It made me wonder who on earth he thinks he is. Mind you, did any of you see the pic of the Father's Day card his daughter sent him? It was hilarious!

"It has been nine months since a British man last won a Grand Slam. It's time for Andy Murray to stop the drought. "

Don't ya just love it!!

Sure do.  Wasn't going to read the piece as I thought it was another bleachers put down of Andy from the title but no, the reverse

Dutch journalists/former tennis players think Murray is favorite and will become number 1 on the world ranking list;

(thx to google translate!)

For years Andy Murray rests on the pressure to solve the last Brit who won Wimbledon. Fred Perry off This year is the probability according to former tennis Raemon Sluiter and Marcella Mesker great that it finally is coming.

Last year Murray still lost in the final to Roger Federer to address. Moments later the Olympic title at the same grass "The focus of Murray is entirely on grass," said Mesker against NUsport. "He has to defend a lot of points the next time. It must happen now."

The current number two in the world, a pretender to the absolute top, think Mesker. "I think Murray sooner or later the first of the world. Though I doubt he can dominate as if Federer has done for years did Nadal and Djokovic does now."

big step

Also Raemon Sluiter is pretty impressed with the 26-year-old Scot. "He has really put a big step forward since he works with Ivan Lendl," he says. "The first thing that catches the eye is the physical work he has done in the past two years."

"Murray has closed the gap on the physical plane with Nadal and Djokovic as well as a poem," Shutter goes further. "He is now after having Lendl more mentally balanced."
