Personally I'm sick of 'experts' telling Andy what he should be doing and what his goals/targets should be. Clearly him being right for the AO would be helpful, but if he's not, he's not.

Only Andy and those around him know the exact nature of his back injury. Only him and those around him know exactly what the surgery entailed. Frankly only Andy knows how he feels at this point, so Becker and every other Tom, Dick and Harry former player should shut up. It was bad enough when they were forming a queue to suggest Andy didn't have a back injury without them doom mongering now.

Whatever happens now, the lad has been the one to break the 76 year Wimbledon drought. He has also got his Gold and the US Open. The important thing as far as I am concerned is that, whatever happens here on, he will be happy with what he has got. If for some reason he is not ever able to regain his previous form, then so be it. As he himself said after the US Open in 2012 if an injury meant he could never play another match he would go into retirement happy.

I am fully expecting him to return raring to go, and I think we will see a very different Murray, if he is less stressed about the reliability of his back.

In the meanwhile folks should just let him get on with his recovery in peace. People are never happy, when he hadn't won a Grand Slam, they were on his back for that. When he did it was "oh but it's not Wimbledon".

Anything else now is a bonus. He has achieved the important things.

All of us including the press just need to get off his back for a bit.

That is to say I completely agree with you Teejay...!!!

To be fair to Boris, who I think often talks rubbish, the melodrama comes from the article's headline  and the words written around his quotes.  His actual quotes are fairly reasonable.  It would put Andy's year back if he can't come back for the Australian Open, but I doubt he'd recommend Andy comes back before he's ready.

I also think some of the confusion is that while Andy's surgery might have been minor in the world of back surgery, doesn't mean that it's like getting a mole removed.  I don't think anything Boris said in this case was wrong - even if he is a bit of a rent a gob. lol

Mr M has also got into an article from the DM about the winner of the Bake off competition.

'I remember watching the Wimbledon final the following week and getting so emotional... and thinking at least Andy Murray doesn't have to hide his trophy under his bed for the next three months.

The said lady was on BBC Breakfast this morning and was speaking about Andy's win there too - as you say, Masaka, he's becoming  a national icon!

Its a great programme, I have no interest in home economics of any sort. But the Bake Off is quite fun really.

Tennis star Andy Murray's luxury Perthshire property Cromlix House Hotel has joined the Small Luxury Hotels of the World portfolio.

Wimbledon champion Murray shared plans for Cromlix House Hotel after a £1.8m purchase in February, with the Victorian property set to open in on 1 April 2014.

The 15-bedroom, five-star hotel will boast a Chez Roux restaurant – the sixth in Scotland – that will specialise in traditional Scottish cuisine. Private dining and events can be arranged for groups of 10-60, while a marquee can be set up in the garden for parties of up to 300.

Fishing, archery, falconry, tennis and in-room spa treatments are among leisure facilities available on the estate.

The property is located on a 34-acre estate near Murray's home in Dunblane, and is a short drive from Gleneagles, host of the 2014 Ryder Cup next September.

Small Luxury Hotels of the World is a portfolio of some of the world’s most upscale small independent hotels, including over 520 properties in more than 70 countries.

Vote for Andy @ www.glenfiddich.com/spiritofscotland.   Two votes needed, one in the sport category and one as top Scot.    You get the chance to say why he should be top Scot, so wax lyrical Angie.
