I saw this all over the new stands this morning and totally ignored it. It's all part of the celebrity parasitism encouraged by the media. It would be a total non-story otherwise. Now Andy is going to be under pressure to respond. I don't think he should; but the pressure will be on for some kind of ex-gratia compensation.  I really hope he resists the temptation.
My thoughts exactly!

I seriously doubt Andy will respond let alone pay any kind of compensation - for the very good reason that he's done absolutely nothing underhand or illegal, and in fact isn't even directly involved in this.  He may own the hotel, but its affairs aren't managed by him.  I'm sure he has a first class lawyer who would swat these whingers away anyway should it be necessary, which of course it won't be because even the dimmest solicitor will know their complaints are groundless so wouldn't pursue the matter.

I know not everyone renting wants to live that way, and some people think there should be better options for longer-term leases, but odds are the original owner wouldn't have wanted to rent out the property on a longer lease.

Quite. Turn this on its head and imagine the tenants gave the landlord a month's notice because they found a better place. The landlord cant turn round and say "hey Ive not found any new tenants so you'll have to stay". They are wanting their cake and eating it. One of the tenants complaining is a 21 year old mother with 5 dogs. 5 dogs!!. No wonder she is complaining.

And don't forget her two children as well!   Looking at the photo again I find it hard to believe she's only 21 because she looks older than that, but I bet she's pretty stressed out with that handful to look after plus her partner.

Anyway if her partner is a chef, then maybe he could have applied for a job at the hotel?  Or maybe he did and got turned done?  Revenge is sweet!  But that's getting into conspiracy theories. lol

I have to say I was disgusted to see this non-story splashed across the front of the Daily Record today. Now these people have trashed Andy in the newspapers and had their 15 minutes of fame they can now concentrate on finding alternative accommodation - something they should have done months ago. Perhaps they can use the money they made from the papers. If you want security and a somewhat stable home then best not rent a property on a short-term lease. To be honest I'm surprised they were able to have 5 dogs in rented accommodation.

I was surprised at the dogs too Iona, but maybe rural lettings are more animal friendly than town and city ones.

Now the Express and the Telegraph have got their hands on this story.  Well shame on the Telegraph. I'm surprised that they've sunk this low even if they do point out that

Henry and Edward Eden, the previous owners of the hotel, which the Wimbledon star bought for around £1.8 million, issued a statement confirming that they had served notice on three tenants.

They added: “This is because the property is being sold and is completely within the terms of their short-term tenant agreements. The tenants were first made aware that their agreements may be terminated six months ago.” They also said they would help the tenants find new homes.

If anyone should be getting the 'blame' it should be the previous owners, but of course they aren't high profile sports stars like Andy is, so it's OK to bash him then.

What I think about these disgraceful whingeing tenants right now isn't printable on this forum.  Fortunately Andy can rise above it all.  He's got better things to do with his life, which is more than can be said for some of those morons who have commented below the newspaper articles and on Twitter.

I agree Aileen - especially that opportunist looking character posing with her bairns.    She's lost all respect for Andy.    Indeed.    I think he will manage to live his life without respect from the likes of her.    As for helping to find them new homes, I'd love to do that - something they deserve but would probably not enoy.

Me too.  Clearly the tenants don't appreciate how fortunate they are being given two months' notice instead of the more usual one month, but I doubt that greetin-faced young woman, who seems to be the one who's stirred this up, has sufficient brain cells to understand that.

The only good thing  to come out of this is that the support for Andy on that awful paper seems to have increased.    The supporters far outweigh the bashers which was not always the case.    It's finally  got through their thick skulls that Andy is, to quote Rafa, "one of the good guys".

Two months notice is the standard notice (for tenants and landlords wishing to terminate the agreement), but this family got six months verbal notice prior to that.  There's no obligation to help tenants find new homes either.

The Telegraph has been a bigger version of the Mail with bigger words for some time.  Same obsession with faddy diets, health scares/miracle cures and Princess Kate in a frock and politics with an unashamed right-wing bias. Rolling Eyes

There is a follow-up in the Daily Mail today on the inside pages. Apparently a retired army officer who has lived there for 8 years is also being evicted. He is notgoing either and is seeing a lawyer. Another one whose signature isn't worth the paper its written on then. Incredibly the Daily Mail is also claiming the tenants have been given a lot of sympathy on the social networking sites! But if you look at the comments on the Daily Mail site, and the number of red and green arrows for each post, Id estimate 90% are supporting Andy.

Must say Im very disappointed in the Daily Mail. I love the paper mainly because they are not politically correct and write stuff that most other papers shy away from. But this is ridiculous. How can they stand up for tenants who are prepared to sign a legal document with a set of terms and conditions and then, just when it suits them, break the terms and conditions. The poor landlord would never have taken these people on in the first place if he knew he was going to be held over a barrel whenever he tried to exercise his legal rights.
